When a DJI Mic 2 shows a link but your camera or phone records nothing, the cause is usually the setup, not the mic: the cable is in the receiver's headphone (monitor) port instead of OUT, a transmitter is muted, the camera's mic input or level is off, or the app is still using the phone's built-in mic. Watch the receiver's level meters while someone talks. If the meters move, the problem is between the receiver and your device.

Step 1: is the receiver getting sound?
Look at the bottom of the receiver screen while someone speaks.
- Meters move: the transmitters work. Skip to step 2.
- No meters, or a mute icon: a transmitter is muted or not linked. A transmitter whose recording LED pulses red is muted. Unmute it by swiping up on that side of the receiver screen and tapping the mute icon. A transmitter blinking green slowly isn't linked: see Mic 2 not pairing.
Step 2: camera gets no audio
- Use the right jack. The receiver has two 3.5 mm ports. OUT sends audio to the camera. The monitor port is for headphones only.
- Use a TRS cable into the camera's mic input, not a headphone jack. The receiver's OUT port is analog.
- Set the camera. Choose external mic input, and lower the camera's own input level. DJI recommends higher receiver gain and lower camera gain. The receiver's Recommended Camera Settings list sets gain for many models.
- Check Power On/Off Camera Simultaneously. With this on, the receiver powers off when the camera is off or in a mode that doesn't record sound.
- Sony with the camera adapter: the DJI Mic 2 Camera Adapter sends digital audio. DJI says a camera that doesn't support digital audio can't recognize it. Use the TRS cable instead.
Step 3: phone gets no audio
- Reseat the mobile phone adapter, and remove a thick phone case.
- Restart the recording app with the receiver already connected, so it picks the external mic.
- If you connected a transmitter straight to the phone over Bluetooth, the app has to support Bluetooth mic input. See Mic 2 not connecting to iPhone.
Lav mic not working
A wired lav plugs into the transmitter's 3.5 mm TRS input. When it's connected, the transmitter's built-in mic is disabled and the lav is used instead. DJI warns not to connect a mic that needs 24 V or 48 V power. If the lav is silent, reseat the plug fully and test the transmitter without it. The receiver screen shows a different level icon for an external mic.
Screen not working
- A short press on the receiver's power button locks or unlocks the screen.
- Raise Brightness in the receiver settings.
- If it's frozen, power it off and on, or use Settings > Reset.
Not picking up audio well
If audio is present but faint, raise Transmitter Gain and receiver gain, and keep the mic close to the speaker's mouth. When the level bar turns red, DJI says to lower gain. For tone problems, see why your DJI Mic sounds muffled.
If the meters move but no device receives audio through any cable, the receiver's output may be faulty. Contact DJI or start a repair. For camera setup, read DJI Mic 2 with a camera, or see the DJI Mic 2.
