A good drone business name says what you do or where you do it, is easy to spell from hearing it once, and is free to register in your state, as a domain and on social media. Names that mention the service ("Roof Scan," "Aerial Mapping") help clients find you; names built on a place ("Ozark Aerial," "Gulf Coast Drone Works") help you rank locally. Below are ideas to start from, then a checklist to make sure a name is actually available.

Tips for picking a name
- Keep it short: two or three words.
- Avoid brand names. Don't use DJI, Mavic or other trademarks in your business name.
- Leave room to grow. "Austin Wedding Drones" is hard to stretch into roof inspections.
- Check the meaning. Search the name to make sure it isn't tied to something you'd rather avoid.
- Pilot nicknames and call signs are fun for social media, but use a plain business name on invoices and contracts.
Logos, slogans and business cards
- Logo: simple shapes that work in one color and at small sizes, on a drone case, a shirt and an invoice.
- Slogan: say the benefit: "Roof reports without the ladder," "Listing photos by tomorrow," "Every acre, covered."
- Business cards: name, service, phone, website and a QR code to your portfolio. Adding "FAA Part 107 Certified" tells clients you fly legally.
Your business website
You need only a few pages: services and packages, a portfolio, service area, an about page with your certifications and insurance, and a contact form. Add a Google Business Profile with photos and reviews, which matters most for local search.
Make it official
Register your business name with your state (or a "doing business as" name with your county), get an EIN from the IRS if needed, and only then order printed materials.
