A DJI Flip that won't connect is usually not linked to its controller, still connected to another device, or blocked by phone settings. To pair a controller, open DJI Fly and tap Control > Re-pair to Aircraft, then hold the Flip's power button for more than four seconds. To fly from a phone alone, turn off the controller first and connect through Connection Guide with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and location turned on.

Pair the Flip with its controller
The Flip works with the DJI RC-N3, DJI RC 2 and DJI RC-N2. From DJI's Flip manual:
- Power on the Flip and the controller. Keep them within 0.5 m (about 1.5 ft).
- Open DJI Fly. In camera view, open settings and tap Control > Re-pair to Aircraft.
- Press and hold the Flip's power button for more than four seconds, until it beeps and its battery LEDs blink in sequence.
- The controller beeps twice when linked. On the RC 2, its status LED turns solid green.
Linking a new controller unlinks the previous one. If the RC 2's status LED is solid red, it's disconnected from the aircraft.
Phone won't connect to the RC-N3
The RC-N3 has no screen, so your phone plugs into it with the controller cable. Use the right cable for your phone (USB-C or Lightning), reopen DJI Fly, and update the app. On Android, choose DJI Fly if asked which app to open. More: RC not connected to mobile device.
Connect a phone without the controller (iPhone or Android)
- Power off the controller. DJI says to turn off any connected remote before using Mobile App Control. Otherwise the Flip drops the other device when the phone connects.
- Power on the Flip and wait for the self-check.
- On the phone, turn on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and location services, and allow DJI Fly to use them.
- In DJI Fly, tap Connection Guide, select the Flip, then Connect via Mobile Device.
- Pick your Flip from the list. The first time, press and hold its power button to confirm.
Switching phones? DJI says to turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the phone that was connected before connecting a new one.
"No signal" while flying
On a controller, check the antennas point toward the Flip and that you're not behind trees or buildings. In phone-only mode, range is limited to 50 m by design. See drone keeps losing signal.
"No network connection" or "account not logged in"
Activation and firmware updates need internet. The Flip itself doesn't join a Wi-Fi network.
- RC-N3: activate through DJI Fly on a phone with internet.
- DJI RC 2: connect it to Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot (slide down twice for Quick Settings and hold the Wi-Fi icon), then activate in DJI Fly.
Then log in to your DJI account in DJI Fly. This matters: DJI's Flip manual says flight is restricted to 30 m (98.4 ft) height and 50 m (164 ft) range when the drone isn't connected to or logged into the app. See DJI account not logged in.
Still won't connect
Update DJI Fly and firmware, restart everything and retry. If the Flip never beeps into pairing mode or the controller can't find it, start a repair. Lost the controller? A replacement DJI RC-N3 pairs with the steps above. More on the drone is in the Flip guide.
