The DJI Mini 4 Pro works with the DJI RC-N2 (in the standard kit), the DJI RC 2 (in the Fly More Combo), and, after firmware updates, the DJI RC-N3 and DJI RC Pro 2. With DJI goggles you can also fly it with the RC Motion 2 or RC Motion 3. It does not work with the older RC-N1 or original DJI RC from the Mini 3, and it can't be flown from a phone alone.

The controllers compared
| Controller | Screen | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| DJI RC-N2 | Your phone | Standard kit. Holds phones up to 180 × 86 × 10 mm, about 6 hours without charging the phone |
| DJI RC 2 | 5.5" 1080p, 700 nits | Fly More Combo. Built-in GNSS, 32 GB storage, about 3 hours |
| DJI RC-N3 | Your phone | Support added in Mini 4 Pro firmware (September 2024) |
| DJI RC Pro 2 | Built-in screen | Support added in Mini 4 Pro firmware (May 2025) |
| RC Motion 2 / 3 | Goggles | Only with compatible DJI goggles |
All of them use DJI's O4 video link with the Mini 4 Pro, with a live view up to 1080p/60.
RC 2 or RC-N2?
Get the RC 2 if you fly often, travel, or hate tethering your phone. It's ready faster, bright enough in sun, and its own GNSS reports your location for Remote ID. Its antennas fold out and should face the drone.
Stick with the RC-N2 if you're on a budget and your phone has a good screen. Your phone must keep DJI Fly in the foreground, and calls or notifications can get in the way.
Both use detachable control sticks that store inside the controller. Replacement RC / RC 2 control sticks are available if you lose one.
RC 2 setup with the Mini 4 Pro
From DJI's FAQ and manual:
- Charge the RC 2 and the drone's battery.
- Power on the RC 2 and connect it to Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot. Follow DJI Fly's prompts to activate it.
- If the RC 2 came in the same box as the drone, they're already linked. Otherwise, link them: power on both, open DJI Fly, tap the settings menu, choose Control > Re-pair to Aircraft, then press and hold the drone's power button for more than four seconds. Keep them within 0.5 m.
- Activate the drone and update firmware for the drone and controller.
The RC-N2 links the same way, with your phone connected and DJI Fly open. Linking a new controller unlinks the old one.
Can you fly without a controller?
No. The Mini 4 Pro needs a compatible remote controller (or goggles with a motion controller). Your phone can connect to the drone over Wi-Fi for QuickTransfer downloads, but not to fly it. See Mini 4 Pro phone-only flying.
What won't work
- DJI RC-N1 and DJI RC (from the Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro): not compatible.
- DJI Goggles N3: not listed by DJI for the Mini 4 Pro. See Mini 4 Pro goggles.
Using two controllers
The Mini 4 Pro links to one controller at a time. If you own both an RC-N2 and an RC 2, re-pair when you switch.
Shop the DJI RC 2, RC-N3 or the DJI Mini 4 Pro. For pairing problems, see Mini 4 Pro not connecting.
