How to update your address on your Part 107 certificate

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Update it with the FAA within 30 days of moving. Under 14 CFR 107.77, a remote pilot who changes their permanent mailing address can't use their certificate after 30 days unless they've notified the FAA. You can do it online through the FAA's Airmen Online Services, or by mailing form AC 8060-55 or a signed letter to the Airmen Certification Branch. You don't need a new card, but you can order one for $2.

Update your Part 107 address
14 CFR 107.77 requires remote pilots to notify the FAA of a new permanent mailing address within 30 days. Drone registration is updated separately.

Option 1: online (fastest)

  1. Go to the FAA's Airmen Certification pages on faa.gov and open Airmen Online Services.
  2. Log in, or create an account if you don't have one.
  3. Choose the change of address option and enter your new address.
  4. Submit and save the confirmation.

Option 2: by mail

Send either:

  • Form AC 8060-55, Change of Address Notification, signed, or
  • A signed letter with your name, date of birth, Social Security number or certificate number, and new address

to: Federal Aviation Administration, Airmen Certification Branch, P.O. Box 25082, Oklahoma City, OK 73125-0082.

Address rules to know

  • Residence required: a P.O. Box isn't acceptable as a residence address. If you want mail at a P.O. Box, give both the box and your street address.
  • Rural addresses: if your residence is a General Delivery, Rural Route or Star Route address, include directions or a map.
  • No new certificate needed: the FAA won't issue an updated certificate automatically, and you aren't required to carry one showing the new address.

Want a card with the new address?

Request a replacement certificate online or by mail. The fee is $2 per certificate. The FAA says to allow 7 to 10 days for online requests and 4 to 6 weeks by mail. The replacement won't show your original date of issue.

Name change instead?

A name change needs your certificate plus a copy of the marriage license, court order or other legal document. The FAA returns the documents after inspection.

Don't forget your drone registration

Your pilot certificate and drone registration are separate. FAA rules require you to update your drone registration information in FAADroneZone within 14 calendar days of a change, including a new address. See drone registration renewal for how DroneZone works.

Why it matters

The FAA uses your address of record for official notices. Flying commercially after the 30-day window without notifying the FAA means you're not exercising your certificate privileges legally, which can complicate insurance and client work.

Rules current as of October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice. See the FAA's Airmen Certification page.
