Yes, the DJI Air 3 works with DJI Goggles 3, and also with the older Goggles 2 and Goggles Integra. Pair Goggles 3 with the RC Motion 3 (or fly with the DJI RC 2 or RC-N2), and Goggles 2 or Integra with the RC Motion 2. The budget Goggles N3 is not compatible with the Air 3. In goggles, some camera features are limited, and US rules require a visual observer next to you.

What you need
| Goggles | Control device | Air 3 firmware |
|---|---|---|
| DJI Goggles 3 ($549) | RC Motion 3 ($109), DJI RC 2 or RC-N2 | v01.00.1200 (April 2024) or later |
| DJI Goggles 2 | RC Motion 2 | v01.00.0600 (September 2023) or later |
| DJI Goggles Integra | RC Motion 2 | v01.00.0600 or later |
| DJI Goggles N3 | Not supported | n/a |
DJI's compatibility document says only one control device can fly the drone at a time when you use goggles. It also lists minimum firmware for each device, so update everything first. The full matrix is in the "Consumer Drones and Goggles Compatibility Information" on the Air 3 downloads page.
How to set it up
- Update the Air 3 through its controller in DJI Fly.
- Update the goggles and motion controller. Power both on, connect the goggles' USB-C port to your phone, open DJI Fly and go to Profile > Device Management. Pick the goggles and choose Firmware Update. DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series) on a computer also works.
- Link the goggles to the drone, then the motion controller to the goggles, following DJI's compatibility guide.
- Check camera settings. DJI notes that settings can reset after a firmware update.
What changes when you fly in Goggles 3
DJI's Goggles 3 compatibility document lists these limits for the Air 3:
- Shooting modes: single 12 MP photos, and Normal video at 4K/60 or 1080p/60 only.
- Not supported: Portrait mode, gimbal parameter settings, manual focus, and intelligent modes such as Waypoint Flight, MasterShots and QuickShots.
- With the RC 2 or RC-N2: only the goggles show the live view. DJI Fly doesn't display it. The controller can start recording on the drone but not on the goggles.
- With the RC Motion 3: head tracking is supported.
In practice, it feels immersive, but the Air 3 is a camera drone, not a racing quad. Expect smooth, cinematic moves rather than flips.
Why Goggles N3 doesn't work
Goggles N3 was built as an entry pair for the DJI Neo and Avata 2. DJI doesn't list the Air 3 for it. If you want goggles for an Air 3, buy Goggles 3. See Goggles 3 vs Goggles N3.
Air 3 vs newer drones for goggles
The Air 3S, Mini 5 Pro and Mavic 4 Pro currently don't work with DJI goggles. If goggles matter to you, that's a reason to pick the Air 3, a Mini 4 Pro, or a dedicated FPV drone like the Avata 2. See Air 3S goggles.
FAA rules for goggles
In the US you must keep the drone within visual line of sight. Wearing goggles means you can't see the drone yourself, so you need a visual observer standing next to you who keeps it in sight at all times. That applies to recreational and Part 107 flights. Everything else stays the same: 400 ft AGL limit, authorization in controlled airspace, registration and Remote ID. The Air 3 weighs 720 g, so it must be registered. See drone no-fly zones.
Common mistakes
- Buying Goggles N3 for an Air 3. They won't link.
- Skipping firmware updates. Out-of-date devices are the most common reason goggles won't pair.
- Expecting waypoints or QuickShots in goggles. They aren't supported.
- Flying alone. A spotter is required.
Quick answers
Can I record 4K/100 slow motion in goggles? No. DJI limits Air 3 video in goggles to 4K/60 and 1080p/60.
Can I use the RC 2 instead of the motion controller? Yes, with Goggles 3, per DJI's compatibility list.
Rules current as of October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice.
