Can you use DJI Goggles 3 or N3 with a simulator like Liftoff?

UPDATED NOVEMBER 2026

No. DJI's FAQs for both Goggles 3 and Goggles N3 say flight simulators aren't supported, and neither pair has an HDMI port, so there's no way to show Liftoff, Uncrashed or any other sim inside them. What does work is the controller: DJI says the FPV Remote Controller 3 is compatible with Liftoff, Uncrashed, the Drone Racing League (DRL) simulator and Drone Champions League (DCL). Practice on a monitor with the same sticks you'll fly with.

Why the goggles can't show a simulator

  • No video input. DJI confirms there's no HDMI input or output on either pair.
  • They're receivers, not displays. Goggles 3 and N3 show the video link from a DJI aircraft or O4 Air Unit, plus MP4 and MOV files from a microSD card.
  • DJI doesn't support it. The FAQ answer to "does it support flight simulators?" is simply no for both models.

How to practice FPV instead

  1. Get a supported controller. The DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 is the closest match to flying an Avata 2 or O4 build in Manual mode.
  2. Connect it to your computer by USB and pick it as the input device in the simulator.
  3. Calibrate the sticks in the sim's controller settings, so center and endpoints match.
  4. Start in angle or self-level mode, then move to acro (rate) mode once you can hover and fly smooth laps.
  5. Practice in short sessions, about 15 minutes, most days.

A large monitor or a laptop at arm's length is fine for learning. What builds skill is time on the sticks.

What about the RC Motion 3?

The RC Motion 3 is a one-hand motion controller for the Avata 2 and Neo. DJI lists the FPV Remote Controller 3, not the RC Motion 3, as the simulator-compatible controller. Motion-controller flying is easy enough that most people learn it in a field in Normal mode instead.

Which simulator to start with

  • Liftoff: many freestyle and racing maps; a common first sim.
  • Uncrashed: realistic freestyle environments.
  • DRL Simulator and DCL: racing-focused.

Moving from sim to real flying

When you're steady in the sim, start real flights in Normal mode on an assisted drone like the Avata 2, where the drone holds position if you let go. In the US, FPV flying needs a visual observer next to you who keeps the drone in sight, since you can't see it directly while wearing goggles.

Other things the goggles can do off the field

  • Play your own MP4 and MOV videos, including 3D and 360 video. See watching movies on Goggles 3.
  • Broadcast your live view to other goggles nearby.
  • Share the live view to a phone in DJI Fly.
