The best all-round DJI Mini 4 Pro video settings are Pro mode, 4K at 24 to 60 fps in 10-bit D-Log M (H.265), ISO 100, and a shutter about double your frame rate using ND filters in daylight. HDR is on by default at 60 fps and below. For photos, shoot RAW plus JPEG at ISO 100: 12 MP for most scenes and low light, 48 MP for detail in good light, with AEB for high-contrast scenes.

Video settings
| Setting | Recommendation | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | 4K | 4K/100 slow motion is H.265 only |
| Frame rate | 24-30 for cinematic, 60 for action | HDR is on at 60 fps and lower |
| Color | D-Log M for grading, Normal for quick edits | D-Log M and HLG are 10-bit, H.265 only |
| ISO | 100 | Normal 100-6400; D-Log M and HLG 100-1600 |
| Shutter | 1/50 (24-25), 1/60 (30), 1/120 (60), 1/200 (100) | Use ND filters |
| White balance | Manual, about 5500K in daylight | Keeps clips consistent |
Max bitrate is 150 Mbps. Normal color is 8-bit; use D-Log M or HLG for 10-bit. If you grade, apply DJI's official Mini 4 Pro LUT.
FPS and shutter pairs
Use the 180-degree rule: shutter about double your frame rate. 24 fps at 1/50, 30 fps at 1/60, 60 fps at 1/120. For slow motion at 100 fps, use 1/200. In bright sun the f/1.7 lens needs strong ND to reach these speeds.
ISO and HDR
DJI says the Mini 4 Pro uses dual native ISO fusion in photo mode and in video at 60 fps or lower, blending two gain circuits for wider dynamic range. That's why HDR is on by default up to 60 fps and why 100 fps footage has less dynamic range. Keep ISO at 100 in daylight. D-Log M doesn't need a higher base ISO on this drone.
EV in Auto mode
If you shoot in Auto, use EV compensation to protect highlights: -0.3 to -0.7 for bright skies and snow, 0 for most scenes. Turn on the histogram and overexposure warning in Settings, Camera to check. In Pro mode with manual ISO and shutter, you set exposure directly instead.
Photo settings and AEB
- 12 MP: cleaner in low light, AEB of 3, 5 or 7 frames at 0.7 EV, bursts of 3, 5 or 7, and simulated long exposures from 2.5 to 8 seconds.
- 48 MP: more detail in good light. ISO stops at 3200. A December 2023 firmware update added 5-frame AEB and burst at 48 MP.
- Format: RAW (DNG) plus JPEG.
- AEB: 5 or 7 frames at 12 MP for sunsets and real estate interiors-to-sky shots.
Gain and Expo Tuning
In DJI Fly, open Settings, Control, Aircraft Settings, Gain and Expo Tuning. DJI lets you fine-tune each flight mode's max horizontal, ascent and descent speed, max angular velocity, yaw smoothness, brake sensitivity and expo, plus gimbal tilt speed and smoothness. For video, lower the max angular velocity and raise yaw smoothness in Cine mode for slow, even pans. DJI warns that lowering brake sensitivity increases braking distance.
Safety settings
- RTH altitude above the tallest obstacle on your route.
- Obstacle Avoidance: Bypass or Brake. It's off in Sport mode.
- Auxiliary light: leave on Auto. It switches on in low light below 5 m to help the downward sensors land.
Display aids
Turn on the histogram, overexposure warning and peaking. Use gridlines for level horizons.
