The DJI Mini 4 Pro has excellent image quality for a 249 g drone. Its 1/1.3-inch, 48 MP sensor and f/1.7 lens record 4K at up to 60 fps with HDR, 4K/100 slow motion, and 10-bit D-Log M and HLG at up to 150 Mbps. Photos come in 12 MP or 48 MP with RAW. Daylight footage looks close to much larger drones; low light and heavy grading are where its smaller sensor shows.

Video quality
- 4K at 24 to 60 fps with HDR on by default at 60 fps and below.
- 4K/100 and 1080p/200 slow motion, with somewhat lower dynamic range than 60 fps and below.
- 10-bit D-Log M and HLG in H.265, ISO 100 to 1600.
- Normal color in 8-bit H.264 or H.265.
- Bitrate up to 150 Mbps.
- True vertical: the camera rotates 90 degrees for full-sensor portrait video. See Mini 4 Pro vertical.
DJI attributes the HDR performance to dual native ISO fusion, which blends two gain circuits in photo mode and in video at 60 fps or lower.
Photo quality
- 12 MP with SmartPhoto processing for clean, balanced images, and simulated long exposures from 2.5 to 8 s.
- 48 MP (8064×6048) for detail in good light. ISO stops at 3200.
- RAW (DNG) with good recovery in shadows and highlights.
- AEB of 3, 5 or 7 frames at 12 MP.
In daylight, 48 MP RAW files resolve plenty of detail for prints and crops. In mixed or dim light, 12 MP files are cleaner.
Low-light quality
Normal video reaches ISO 6400. The Night video mode extends that to 12800 with stronger noise reduction at 4K or 1080p, 24 to 30 fps. City lights and blue hour look good; very dark scenes get soft. See Mini 4 Pro night mode.
Where it falls short
- Sensor size. A 1/1.3-inch sensor has less dynamic range and more noise than the 1-inch sensors in the Mini 5 Pro and Air 3S.
- Fixed aperture. You need ND filters for natural motion blur in daylight.
- Wind. At 249 g, micro-movement shows more on long-lens digital zoom and in gusts.
Mini 4 Pro vs Mini 5 Pro image quality
The Mini 5 Pro moves to a 1-inch, 50 MP sensor with 4K/120 and Normal video ISO to 12800. If low light and grading latitude matter most, it's the step up. If you mostly fly in daylight, the Mini 4 Pro's results are close and it costs less. Compare in Mini 4 Pro vs Mini 5 Pro.
Getting the best results
- Pro mode, ISO 100, shutter double the frame rate with ND.
- D-Log M plus DJI's Mini 4 Pro LUT if you grade; Normal if you don't.
- 4K at 24 to 30 fps for the cleanest HDR look.
- RAW plus JPEG for stills, with AEB for sunsets.
