The DJI Mini 4 Pro takes one microSD card rated UHS-I Speed Grade 3 (U3) or faster, and V30 is the safe minimum. DJI's recommended list includes cards from 32 GB to 512 GB, such as the Lexar 1066x, Kingston Canvas Go! Plus and React Plus, SanDisk Extreme PRO and Samsung EVO Plus. For most pilots a 128 GB or 256 GB V30 card is the sweet spot. The drone also has 2 GB of internal storage as a backup, enough for a couple of minutes of 4K.

DJI's recommended microSD cards
| Card | Capacities DJI lists |
|---|---|
| Lexar 1066x V30 U3 A2 | 64, 128, 256, 512 GB |
| Kingston Canvas Go! Plus V30 U3 A2 | 64, 128 GB |
| Kingston Canvas React Plus V90 U3 A1 | 64, 128, 256 GB |
| SanDisk Extreme PRO V30 U3 A1 | 32 GB |
| Samsung EVO Plus V30 U3 A2 | 512 GB |
Other U3 / V30 cards from reputable brands generally work too. Buy from a trusted seller; counterfeit cards are a common cause of corrupted files.
How much footage fits?
The Mini 4 Pro records at up to 150 Mbps, which works out to roughly 1.1 GB per minute at the maximum bitrate. Our estimates:
| Card | Approx. video at 150 Mbps |
|---|---|
| 64 GB | about 55 minutes |
| 128 GB | about 1 hour 50 minutes |
| 256 GB | about 3 hours 45 minutes |
| 512 GB | about 7 hours 30 minutes |
Photos take far less space. A 48 MP RAW plus JPEG is much bigger than a 12 MP shot, but you'll still fit thousands.
Internal storage
The Mini 4 Pro has 2 GB built in. In DJI Fly's camera settings you can choose Storage Location: the microSD card or internal storage. If no card is inserted, footage goes to internal storage. At high bitrates that's under two minutes of 4K, so treat it as a backup, not a plan. You can download internal files with QuickTransfer to your phone or over USB-C.
How many SD cards do you need?
The drone has one slot. Most pilots carry two cards: one in the drone and a spare. The DJI RC 2 also has its own microSD slot for extra controller storage, separate from the drone's card.
SD card not detected or not recognized
- Power off, remove the card and reinsert it fully.
- Format it in DJI Fly (this erases it). DJI's supported file system is exFAT.
- Try a card from DJI's list. Slow or fake cards cause errors and dropped frames.
- Check the card in a computer. If the computer can't read it either, the card has failed.
- Update firmware for the drone and DJI Fly.
- Never remove the card while recording. DJI warns it can damage the card.
If a known-good card still isn't detected, the slot may be damaged; contact our repair team. More help: DJI drone not reading SD card, how to format an SD card in a DJI drone and DJI slow SD card warning.
Getting footage off the card
- Card reader: pull the card and copy files with a USB card reader.
- QuickTransfer: up to 30 MB/s to your phone over Wi-Fi, per DJI.
- USB-C cable: connect the drone to a computer. DJI says the drone doesn't need to be powered on to export.
