Yes, the DJI Avata 2 is one of the best tools for real estate fly-through videos: one continuous shot that flies in the front door, through the rooms and out over the yard. Its built-in propeller guards, 155° wide lens and smooth FPV movement suit indoor work. It's weaker for listing photos, since its 1/1.3-inch camera shoots 12 MP stills, and it has no forward obstacle avoidance. Most real estate pilots pair it with a camera drone like the Mini 5 Pro for exteriors and stills.

Why it works for fly-throughs
- Guarded propellers. The Avata 2's integrated guards make brushing a door frame survivable, though not harmless to walls or people.
- Wide view. A 155° field of view (12 mm equivalent) shows a whole room as you pass through it.
- 4K/60 video in 16:9 or 4:3, with D-Log M for grading to match other footage.
- Steady footage. RockSteady 3.0+ and HorizonSteady stabilization, plus a single-axis tilt gimbal.
- Small size. At about 377 g it fits through doorways and stairwells a larger drone can't.
Its limits
- No forward obstacle sensing. DJI lists downward and backward visual positioning only. You avoid walls and furniture yourself.
- Stills. 12 MP photos are fine for social posts but thin for MLS listings compared with a 1-inch, 50 MP Mini 5 Pro.
- Skill. A smooth one-take tour needs practice. Expect several takes.
- Noise. FPV drones are loud indoors. Clear the house of people and pets.
Best settings for a home tour
- Normal mode at first. With the RC Motion 3, point where you want to go and squeeze the trigger. Move to Manual only if you're practiced.
- 4K at 30 or 60 fps, 16:9 for listing sites, or vertical crops from 4:3 for social.
- D-Log M if you'll color grade; Standard if you deliver straight from the drone.
- Turn on every light and open the blinds. A small sensor gets noisy in dim rooms.
- Slow and steady. Lower speeds look more luxurious and give the stabilization less to correct.
- Plan the route. Walk it first, open interior doors, and remove anything that could blow over.

Rules for paid real estate work
Real estate flying is commercial in the US. The pilot needs an FAA Part 107 certificate, and the Avata 2, at about 377 g, must be registered. Outdoors, FPV flying also needs a visual observer next to you who can see the drone, because goggles block your own view. Get written permission from the seller or agent before flying inside a home. See real estate drone license.
What to buy
A practical real estate FPV kit:
- DJI Avata 2 (from $934)
- DJI Goggles 3 for the sharpest, lowest-latency view, or Goggles N3 on a budget
- RC Motion 3 for easy one-hand control
- Spare batteries: DJI rates about 23 minutes per battery, and each tour takes several takes
For listing photos and exteriors, add a camera drone. See best drone for real estate photography and best drone for indoor real estate.
