A DJI Avata 2 that won't turn on almost always has a flat or hibernating battery, or a battery that's too hot or cold to charge. Turn the drone off, plug a USB PD charger into the aircraft's USB-C port, and let it charge at room temperature. To power on, press the button once, then press again and hold.

Power-on sequence
The aircraft and the Goggles 3 both use the same pattern: press once, then press again and hold (about two seconds). A single press only shows the battery level.
Aircraft battery not charging
- Turn the aircraft off. DJI says the battery can't charge while the aircraft is powered on.
- Use a USB PD charger. Charging in the aircraft is limited to 30 W. DJI's FAQ puts a full charge at about 88 minutes this way.
- Wake it from hibernation. New batteries ship in hibernation, and a battery that runs very low goes back into it. Connecting a charger wakes it.
- Mind the temperature. It only charges between 5° and 40° C (41° and 104° F). Let it cool after flying.
- Read the LEDs. LED2 blinking means overcurrent or short circuit, LED3 means overcharge or an over-voltage charger, LED4 means too cold or too hot. Unplug and replug the charger to clear the first two; temperature stops clear on their own.
- Reseat the battery. Make sure it clicks fully into the frame. Hard landings can loosen it.
Charging hub not charging
The Avata 2 Two-Way Charging Hub charges three batteries in sequence, highest level first. With a DJI 65W charger it fills one battery in about 45 minutes.
- If charging doesn't start by itself, DJI says to press the hub's function button.
- Blinking yellow: batteries too hot or cold. Wait.
- Solid red: power supply or battery error. Remove and reinsert the batteries, or replug the charger.
- It only works with the Avata 2 battery (model BWX520-2150-14.76).
Goggles 3 not charging or turning on
- Charge over the goggles' USB-C port with a USB PD charger. DJI lists a maximum input of 9V/3A.
- Use press, then press-and-hold for two seconds to turn them on.
- The battery wires run through the headband. DJI warns not to pull the headband hard, which can damage them.
- If the goggles turn on but ask for activation or show a blank screen, see Goggles 3 won't turn on, charge or activate.
Controller not turning on
Charge the RC Motion 3 or FPV Remote Controller 3 over USB-C, then use the same press, then press-and-hold sequence. If it powers on but won't link, see Avata 2 not connecting.
When to stop
Retire a swollen, cracked or unusually hot battery: see swollen drone battery. If a known-good, charged Avata 2 battery still won't power the drone, the aircraft needs service. DJI's own troubleshooting says to contact support when a battery with power can't start the drone normally. Start a repair.
