A DJI Avata 2 battery takes about 45 minutes to charge from 0 to 100% in the Avata 2 Two-Way Charging Hub with a 65W charger, or about 88 minutes when you charge it inside the drone through the drone's USB-C port. Topping up from 10 to 90% takes about 30 minutes in the hub or about 60 minutes in the drone.

Avata 2 charge times
| Method | 0 to 100% | 10 to 90% |
|---|---|---|
| Two-Way Charging Hub (60 W) | About 45 min | About 30 min |
| Inside the drone (30 W) | About 88 min | About 60 min |
These are DJI's figures. A set of three batteries in the hub takes roughly 2 hours 15 minutes, because the hub charges them in sequence, not all at once.
How to charge in the drone
- Insert the battery and leave the drone powered off. It won't charge while it's on.
- Connect a USB PD charger to the drone's USB-C port. DJI recommends 30 W or more.
- Watch the battery level LEDs. They all go off when the battery is full.
The drone accepts a maximum of 30 W, so a 65 W or 100 W charger won't speed up in-drone charging.
How to charge in the hub
- Insert up to three batteries until they click.
- Connect the DJI 65W Portable Charger, the DJI 65W Car Charger, or another USB PD charger.
- The hub charges the fullest battery first, then the next.
The Two-Way Charging Hub can also move leftover charge into one battery and power your goggles or phone. See Avata 2 batteries and chargers.
Why is my battery charging slowly or not at all?
- Too hot. DJI says not to charge a battery right after flying. Charging only works between 5° and 40° C (41° to 104° F); the ideal range is 22° to 28° C.
- Too cold. A battery from a cold car won't charge until it warms up.
- Weak charger. Non-PD or low-wattage chargers are slow or won't work.
- Drone is on. Power it off for in-drone charging.
- First use. New batteries ship in hibernation and wake when charging starts. If a deeply drained battery won't respond, leave it on a charger for a while.
If a battery still won't charge or looks swollen, stop using it and contact our repair team. See also Avata 2 not turning on.
Charging the goggles and controller
Goggles 3 and RC Motion 3 charge over USB-C too. The RC Motion 3 takes about 2 hours and runs about 10 hours. The hub can charge them as a power bank in the field.
Plan your flying day
With three batteries and the hub on a 65W charger, you can fly one battery while another charges. In a car, the DJI 65W Car Charger keeps the rotation going.
