The best vlogging camera for most people in 2026 is the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 ($483). It's a pocket-size camera with a 1-inch sensor on a 3-axis mechanical gimbal, so walking shots are smooth without any editing, and its 2-inch screen rotates to face you. It records 4K at up to 120fps in 10-bit D-Log M and tracks your face automatically. For action and water, get the Osmo Action 5 Pro. If you'd rather use your phone, add an Osmo Mobile 6 gimbal.

Best overall: DJI Osmo Pocket 3
What makes the Osmo Pocket 3 a great YouTube and vlog camera:
- 1-inch CMOS sensor with a 20 mm equivalent f/2.0 lens, much better in low light than phones' small sensors.
- 3-axis mechanical gimbal, smoother than electronic stabilization when you walk.
- Rotating 2-inch touchscreen: turn it to switch between horizontal and vertical, or to power on.
- Three built-in mics, and it pairs directly with DJI Mic 2 transmitters.
- 4K/120fps slow motion and 10-bit D-Log M for color grading.
- 166 minutes of rated battery (1080p/24fps, screen off).
The $604 Creator Combo adds a DJI Mic 2 transmitter, wide-angle lens, battery handle and mini tripod, which is most of a vlogging kit in one box.
Limits: it's not waterproof, the lens is fixed (no optical zoom), and photos are 9.4 MP.
Best for action and water: Osmo Action 5 Pro
The Osmo Action 5 Pro ($351) is waterproof to 20 m without a case, has front and rear touchscreens for selfie framing, and a 1/1.3-inch sensor with 4K/120 and 10-bit color. DJI rates the battery at up to 240 minutes. It's the pick for biking, skiing, surfing and anything that would wreck a gimbal. Electronic stabilization is excellent but looks different from a real gimbal when you walk and talk.
Best if you love your phone: Osmo Mobile 6
Recent phones shoot great video. The Osmo Mobile 6 ($120) adds a 3-axis gimbal, a 215 mm built-in extension rod and ActiveTrack in DJI Mimo. It's the cheapest way to get gimbal-smooth footage if you already own a good phone.
Add a wireless mic
Audio matters more than video for vlogs. The DJI Mic 2 ($219) connects directly to the Pocket 3 and Action 5 Pro without a receiver, and records 32-bit float backups on each transmitter. On a budget, the DJI Mic Mini is $109.
What about the Pocket 4?
DJI's newer Osmo Pocket 4 and Pocket 4P haven't been authorized for sale in the US, so the Pocket 3 remains the current US model. See Osmo Pocket 3 vs Pocket 4.
