DJI Fly usually crashes because the phone is short on storage, the app is out of date, or the phone isn't on DJI's compatibility list. DJI's fix is to clear the phone's cache, make sure at least 10 GB is free, then delete and reinstall DJI Fly. On Android, install it from DJI's website rather than an app store. If it still crashes, upload the app log in DJI Fly and contact DJI Support.

Fixes on a phone
- Free up space. DJI asks for at least 10 GB of free storage. DJI Fly caches video while you fly, so a nearly full phone causes trouble.
-
Reinstall.
- iPhone: delete DJI Fly, then download it again from the App Store.
- Android: delete it, then download the latest version from DJI's Download Center at https://www.dji.com/downloads. DJI says that's the official channel, and that older app versions can crash on newer Android versions.
- Update the drone's firmware after reinstalling. App and firmware versions are meant to match.
- Check compatibility. DJI publishes a DJI Fly phone compatibility list. Phones not on it haven't been verified for stable use.
- Restart the phone and close other apps before you fly.
"DJI Fly app gone" or won't install
On Android, DJI Fly is installed from DJI's website as an APK file. DJI's tips if it won't install:
- Download with the phone's own browser or Chrome, on a stable connection, so the file isn't incomplete.
- If Android warns "unsafe app blocked", choose More details > Install anyway. DJI says its apps are tested and safe.
- If Google Play Protect still blocks it, DJI suggests temporarily turning off its scanning options, installing, then turning them back on.
- Make sure the phone has enough free storage.
"CPU overloaded" warning
DJI Fly shows this when your phone can't keep up with decoding the video. DJI blames slow or unsupported phones, heat, low battery and aging devices. Shade the phone from direct sun, charge it above 50%, and use a phone from the compatibility list. A hot phone throttles its processor, which can affect the video and the app's control link.
DJI Fly crashing on the DJI RC or RC 2
On screen controllers like the DJI RC 2, DJI Fly is built in. DJI's steps:
- Update the controller's firmware.
- Clear DJI Fly's app cache.
- If it still crashes, back up your files, clear the app data and factory reset the controller, choosing Format SD Card.
- Uninstall third-party apps you've added; DJI says they can cause lag and crashes.
If that fails, DJI asks you to send the controller in. If you'd rather use your phone, the RC-N3 runs DJI Fly on the phone instead.
Send DJI the crash log
In DJI Fly, go to Service > Log Upload, choose the date, select the flight records and the app log, describe what happened, and tap Submit. Screenshot the confirmation and contact DJI Support. Have your app version, firmware version, phone model and OS version ready.

- App won't see the drone: see RC not connected to mobile device.
- Login or activation errors: see DJI activation error.
