The biggest difference isn't screen specs; it's the ecosystem. DJI Goggles 3 receive only DJI digital video: Avata 2, Neo, the O4 and O3 Air Units, and some DJI camera drones such as the Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro. Walksnail's Goggles X and Avatar X system works only with Walksnail video transmitters. Neither receives the other's signal, so choose the system first, then the goggles. If you want a ready-to-fly drone, DJI is the simpler path; if you build quads, compare the two systems' air units, latency and price.

Compatibility decides it
- DJI Goggles 3 work with DJI's own aircraft and air units. With the O4 Air Unit, DJI rates latency as low as 20 ms in racing mode and range up to 10 km (FCC). See DJI goggles compatibility.
- Walksnail Goggles X and Avatar X pair with Walksnail's own VTX and camera units. For their screen specs, latency, recording and analog module options, check Walksnail's official product pages.
Neither system talks to the other. If you already own several quads on one system, staying with it is usually cheaper than switching.
What to compare
Ready-to-fly vs build. DJI sells complete FPV drones (Avata 2, Neo) that work with Goggles 3 out of the box. Walksnail is aimed mainly at pilots building or buying third-party quads.
Image quality and latency. Both are HD digital systems. Compare published latency at the same frame rate and real-world footage from pilots who fly your style.
Onboard recording. DJI air units record HD footage on the drone, and Goggles 3 can record what you see. Check how the Walksnail air unit you'd buy records.
Analog. Goggles 3 can't receive analog at all. If you still fly analog whoops, check whether the other goggles accept an analog module. See analog vs digital FPV.
Comfort and glasses. Goggles 3 have built-in diopter adjustment from -6.0D to +2.0D, which removes the need for glasses for many pilots. See Goggles 3 with glasses.
Extras. Goggles 3 include Real View passthrough cameras, so you can glance at your surroundings without taking them off.
