DJI Mic 2 accessories: lav mic, windscreens, magnets and mounts

The most useful DJI Mic 2 accessories are the DJI Lavalier Mic for a hidden mic, spare windscreens for outdoor use, extra clip magnets, the right phone adapter (USB-C or Lightning), and, for Sony shooters, the DJI Mic Series Camera Adapter. The charging case already stores two transmitters, the receiver and two phone adapters, so you rarely need a separate case.

DJI Lavalier Mic

Each Mic 2 transmitter has a 3.5 mm TRS input. Plug in the DJI Lavalier Mic and it replaces the transmitter's built-in mic. DJI's tips:

• Clip it to the collar or shirt front, 15 to 20 cm from the mouth.
• Route the cable inside the clothing so the mic stays put.
• The mic head rotates 360°, and its windscreen can come off to make it less visible.

You can use other 3.5 mm TRS lavaliers too. DJI warns not to connect a mic that needs 24 V or 48 V power.

Windscreens

Use a windscreen outdoors or anywhere windy. Line it up with the transmitter's mic opening and press firmly. Spare windscreens are worth having because they're easy to lose. If voices sound dull indoors, try without one. See DJI mic sounds muffled.

Clip magnets and mounting

The transmitter clips to a collar or pocket, attaches through clothing with the clip magnet, or stands upright on a table. DJI rates the Mic 2 clip magnet at 33 N, strong enough to hold 3.3 kg of iron.

• Don't use the magnet through heavy clothing; the transmitter can fall off.
• Take care during vigorous activity like sprinting.
• Keep magnets away from bank cards, pacemakers and hard drives.

For a desk setup or podcast, standing the transmitter upright works. Third-party mini stands and handheld "interview" handles are available if you want it on a mic stand or in your hand.

Phone adapters

The receiver connects to phones through a USB-C or Lightning mobile device adapter in its expansion port. These aren't interchangeable with the original DJI Mic or Pocket 2 adapters. Lightning is for iPhone 14 and earlier; USB-C for Android and iPhone 15 or later. See connect Mic 2 to an iPhone.

Camera cable and Sony Camera Adapter

The 3.5 mm TRS camera audio cable connects the receiver's output to a camera's mic input. For Sony cameras with the Multi Interface (MI) shoe, the DJI Mic 2 Camera Adapter mounts the receiver in the hot shoe, sends digital audio and powers the receiver from the camera. DJI's list includes the A7S III, A7 IV, A1, FX3, FX30, ZV-E1, ZV-E10 and A6700. It needs Mic 2 firmware from April 2024 or later, and the receiver's auto power on/off with the camera doesn't work through the adapter. There's no XLR output on the receiver.

Charging case and cables

• Charging case: 3250 mAh, recharges two transmitters and the receiver about twice, and links them automatically. DJI also sells it on its own.
• Splitter cable: the DJI Mic USB-C splitter charging cable charges the transmitters and receiver at once from a 5 V/1 A brick in about 70 minutes.
• Charger: use 5 V/2 A for the case.

Pouches and cases

The charging case is the case for most people. If you carry extra lavs, cables and adapters, a small zip pouch or hard case keeps everything together. Keep the case dry; DJI doesn't rate the Mic 2 as waterproof. See is DJI Mic waterproof.
