DJI Mic 2 not charging or not turning on

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

A DJI Mic 2 that won't charge or turn on usually has a flat charging case, a transmitter or receiver that isn't seated on the case's charging pins, or a battery that's too hot or cold to charge. Charge the case on its own first, reseat each unit, and power on by holding the power button for two seconds.

Charging specs from DJI's Mic 2 user manual. The case carries about two full charges for two transmitters and the receiver.

Turn it on the right way

  • Transmitter: press and hold the power button for two seconds. A short press only toggles noise reduction.
  • Receiver: press and hold the power button. A short press locks or unlocks the screen.
  • From the case: transmitters and receiver power on automatically when you lift them out.

If a transmitter seems to "turn itself off," that may be Transmitter Auto Off: it shuts down after 15 minutes if it isn't connected and isn't recording. The receiver has a similar Receiver Auto Off after 30 minutes without a linked transmitter, and Power On/Off Camera Simultaneously turns it off with your camera. Change these on the receiver screen.

Not charging in the case

  1. Charge the case first. It has a 3,250 mAh battery, and DJI says a full case gives about two cycles for two transmitters and the receiver. Its four LEDs show the level. If all four are dark when the case is closed and unplugged, it's flat.
  2. Use a decent charger. The case accepts 5 V at 1.5 to 3 A over USB-C, and DJI's FAQ recommends a 5V/2A charger. A full case charge takes about 2 hours 40 minutes.
  3. Seat each unit. Charging starts when the charging pad on the bottom of the transmitter or receiver meets the pins in the case. Press each one in fully. A clip or magnet at the wrong angle can keep it from sitting flat.
  4. Clean the contacts. Wipe the pads and pins with a dry cloth. Lint and skin oil build up fast on wearable mics.
  5. Check the temperature. Transmitters and receiver charge between 5° and 45° C (41° and 113° F). The case charges between 5° and 40° C (41° and 104° F). A case left in a hot car may not charge until it cools.
  6. Watch the transmitter light. While charging, the status LED blinks green one to four times to show the level and turns off when full.

Charge without the case

Each transmitter and the receiver has its own USB-C port. DJI's manual recommends a 5V/1A brick with the DJI Mic USB-C splitter cable, which charges them in about 70 minutes. Charging a unit by cable tells you whether the case or the unit is the problem.

Receiver won't turn on

  • Charge it directly over USB-C for a while, then press and hold the power button.
  • If it seems on but the screen is blank, press the power button once: a short press locks and unlocks the screen. Brightness is under Settings on the receiver.
  • If it powers on but freezes, use Settings > Reset to restore factory settings.

When to contact support

If a unit won't charge by cable or in the case, or it gets hot, swells or smells, stop using it. Contact DJI or start a repair. Battery life expectations are in DJI Mic 2 battery life, and our contact page can help if you bought your DJI Mic 2 from us.
