DJI Mic 2 vs Insta360 Mic Pro: which wireless mic?

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

DJI Mic 2 is the safer all-round choice if you film with a mix of cameras, phones and DJI gear: two transmitters record a 32-bit float backup internally, the receiver has a touchscreen and headphone monitoring, range is rated at 250 m (FCC), and the case extends battery to about 18 hours. Insta360's Mic Pro is the alternative to look at if you shoot mainly with Insta360 cameras. Compare its published specs on Insta360's site against the Mic 2 numbers below.

What to compare

Backup recording. Mic 2 records on each transmitter, including 32-bit float, so a clipped shout or wireless dropout can be recovered in editing. Check whether the Insta360 Mic Pro records internally and in what format. See Mic 2 internal recording.

Camera ecosystem. Mic 2 transmitters connect straight to the Osmo Pocket 3 and Osmo Action 5 Pro over Bluetooth, no receiver needed. Insta360 mics are designed around Insta360 cameras. If you use one brand's cameras, its mic will usually integrate best.

Receiver and monitoring. Mic 2's receiver has a touchscreen, a gain dial and a headphone jack, and outputs to cameras by 3.5 mm or to phones by USB-C or Lightning adapter. Check the Insta360 receiver's outputs for your setup.

Range and battery. Compare rated range under the same standard (FCC vs CE) and battery with and without the case.

Lav input and look. Mic 2 has a 3.5 mm input for a wired lavalier when a clip-on transmitter is too visible.

Sound. Spec sheets help, but listen to unedited samples recorded in similar rooms. Placement matters more than the brand: clip the mic 15 to 20 cm below the mouth.

Which should you buy?

  • DJI Mic 2: interviews, paid work, mixed camera setups, DJI Osmo users, anyone who wants a backup recording.
  • Insta360 Mic Pro: you mainly film with Insta360 cameras and want tight integration with them.
  • On a budget or phone-only: the DJI Mic Mini is lighter and cheaper, without internal recording.

Mic 2 is FCC-authorized and sold in the US. Read our Mic 2 review, best wireless mic, or browse microphones.
