Most DJI camera drones fly 18 to 51 minutes per battery, as rated by DJI. The Mavic 4 Pro leads at 51 minutes, the Air 3S is rated at 45, the Mini 4 Pro at 34 and the tiny Neo at 18. Those numbers are measured in calm air until the battery is empty, so real flights are shorter. Plan on about 80% of the rated time once you land with a safe reserve.

Flight time by model
| Model | Rated flight time | With 3 batteries |
|---|---|---|
| Mavic 4 Pro | 51 min | about 153 min |
| Matrice 4T / 4E | 49 min | about 147 min |
| Mavic 3 Classic | 46 min | about 138 min |
| Air 3 | 46 min | about 138 min |
| Air 3S | 45 min | about 135 min |
| Mavic 3 Enterprise | 45 min | about 135 min |
| Mavic 3 Pro | 43 min | about 129 min |
| Matrice 30T | 41 min | about 123 min |
| Mini 3 | 38 min | about 114 min |
| Mini 5 Pro | 36 min | about 108 min |
| Mini 4 Pro | 34 min | about 102 min |
| Flip | 31 min | about 93 min |
| Mini 2 SE | 31 min | about 93 min |
| Inspire 3 | 28 min | n/a |
| Avata 2 | 23 min | about 69 min |
| Neo | 18 min | about 54 min |
Heavy enterprise platforms fly longer with no payload: DJI rates the Matrice 350 RTK at 55 minutes and the Matrice 400 at 59. Payloads cut that.
Why real flights are shorter
DJI measures rated times in a windless test, flying at a steady speed until the battery hits 0%. In real flying:
- You land with a reserve. Landing at 20 to 30% leaves a quarter of every battery unused.
- Wind forces the motors to work harder, especially on the way home.
- Cold cuts battery capacity sharply below 41° F. See flying in cold weather.
- Sport mode and climbing draw much more power than cruising.
- Accessories like prop guards add weight and drag. The Neo is rated at 18 minutes, or about 17 with its guards.
- Altitude. Thin air at high elevations shortens flights.
- Battery age. Older batteries hold less charge.
A practical planning number: about 80% of the rated time for calm summer flights, less in wind or cold.
Bigger batteries
Some Mini drones offer an Intelligent Flight Battery Plus. On the Mini 4 Pro it raises rated flight time from 34 to 45 minutes, but the drone then weighs about 290 g, so it must be registered with the FAA even for recreational flying. See drone under 250 g rules.
How to fly longer
- Carry spare batteries. The Fly More Combo is usually the cheapest way. See is the Fly More Combo worth it.
- Bring a charging hub and charge from a car or power station between flights.
- Fly smoothly. Avoid hard acceleration and long Sport mode bursts.
- Go upwind first so the return trip is easier.
- Keep batteries warm in winter and shaded in summer.
- Plan your shots before takeoff so you're not hovering while you think.
- Look after your batteries. See drone battery care.
Quick answers
Which DJI drone flies the longest? Among camera drones we sell, the Mavic 4 Pro at 51 minutes rated.
How long does a drone battery take to charge? It varies by model and charger. DJI lists about 50 minutes for a Neo battery charged in the drone, and about 60 minutes for three Neo batteries in its charging hub.
Can a drone fly for hours? Not on one battery. Swap batteries, or for automated work, use a dock that recharges the drone between flights.
Does flight time drop as batteries age? Yes. DJI rates the Air 3S battery for 200 cycles.
