The DJI Mavic 3 Classic itself never connects to a Wi-Fi network. Your controller or phone does. With the DJI RC, open Quick Settings by sliding down from the top of the screen and join a Wi-Fi network or hotspot. With the RC-N1, DJI Fly runs on your phone and uses the phone's internet. If the drone and controller won't talk at all, re-pair them in DJI Fly under Control > Pair to Aircraft (Link).

When you need a network
Internet is needed to:
- Activate the aircraft and controller the first time
- Download firmware updates
- Log in to your DJI account, unlock GEO zones and load maps
You don't need it to fly once activated. If DJI Fly shows "no network connection" or "account not logged in," get the controller or phone online and log in under the profile tab. See DJI account not logged in.
Connect the DJI RC to Wi-Fi
- Power on the DJI RC: press once, then press again and hold.
- In DJI Fly, slide down twice from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings. Outside DJI Fly, slide down once.
- Turn on Wi-Fi and choose your network or phone hotspot. Enter the password.
- Return to DJI Fly. The status bar shows the Wi-Fi signal.
RC-N1 and your phone
The RC-N1 holds your phone and connects to it with a cable. If DJI Fly doesn't see the controller:
- Use the right cable for your phone's port. A charge-only cable won't carry data.
- Unplug and replug, then close and reopen DJI Fly.
- Update DJI Fly.
- On Android, pick DJI Fly if asked which app to open.

Re-pair the drone and controller
From DJI's Mavic 3 Classic manual (same steps for both controllers):
- Power on the aircraft and controller, within 0.5 m (about 1.5 ft) of each other.
- Open DJI Fly. In camera view, open settings and tap Control > Pair to Aircraft (Link).
- Press and hold the aircraft's power button for more than four seconds. It beeps once when ready to link.
- When linking succeeds, the aircraft beeps twice and the controller's battery LEDs glow solid.
Linking a new controller unlinks the old one. Remove the storage cover before powering on. Still failing? See DJI drone not connecting to controller.
Phone to drone over Wi-Fi
To download files without the controller, use QuickTransfer: turn on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and location on the phone, power on the drone, open DJI Fly and tap Connect when prompted. DJI rates it at up to 80 MB/s on 5.8 GHz with a Wi-Fi 6 phone and footage on the drone's internal storage, and 10 MB/s on 2.4 GHz. You don't type a Wi-Fi password in phone settings.
Still not connecting
Update everything and retry. If the aircraft never beeps into pairing mode, or the controller can't find it after a firmware refresh in DJI Assistant 2, start a repair. More on the drone is in the Mavic 3 Classic guide.
