DJI Mavic 4 Pro vs Skydio X10: price, cameras and who each is for

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The Skydio X10 doesn't have a public list price. Skydio sells it through its own sales team and authorized resellers as quoted packages, and the price depends on the sensor package, controller, software and support you choose. Expect enterprise pricing well above a consumer camera drone. The DJI Mavic 4 Pro is a creative camera drone that starts at $2,419 in our store.

Mavic 4 Pro or Skydio X10?
The Mavic 4 Pro is a creative camera drone. The Skydio X10 is an enterprise and public-safety platform sold by quote, often chosen when US-made hardware is required.

Different drones for different buyers

These two rarely compete for the same job.

  • DJI Mavic 4 Pro: built for photographers and filmmakers. 100 MP 4/3 Hasselblad camera, 70 mm and 168 mm tele cameras, 6K/60fps video, 51 minutes of rated flight.
  • Skydio X10: built for public safety, security, inspection and defense users. Modular sensor packages with thermal, onboard AI autonomy, night navigation and a ruggedized airframe.

People usually compare them when a buyer needs to replace a DJI drone with a US-made one, often because of agency rules or grant conditions.

Cameras

The Mavic 4 Pro uses one gimbal with three cameras: a 100 MP 4/3 CMOS wide with an f/2.0 to f/11 aperture, a 48 MP 70 mm and a 50 MP 168 mm. It records 6K up to 60fps with 10-bit color, which is what creative work needs.

Skydio lists several X10 sensor packages. According to Skydio, the VT300-Z combines a 64 MP narrow camera, a 48 MP telephoto (190 mm equivalent) and a 640 x 512 radiometric thermal camera. Other packages swap the telephoto for a 1-inch 50 MP wide camera. Thermal is the main reason public agencies buy it. The Mavic 4 Pro has no thermal camera.

Autonomy and night work

Skydio's selling point is autonomy. The X10 uses an onboard NVIDIA processor and six navigation cameras for 360-degree obstacle avoidance, and Skydio says its NightSense mode navigates in zero light using infrared or visible illuminators. It also supports remote operation through Skydio's software.

The Mavic 4 Pro has omnidirectional vision sensing plus forward LiDAR, which helps in low light, and DJI's ActiveTrack and waypoint tools. It's very capable for a camera drone, but it isn't designed for dark, GPS-denied industrial flying.

Durability and compliance

Skydio rates the X10 at IP55 for dust and water and describes it as NDAA compliant. The Mavic 4 Pro has no IP rating.

Compliance is often the deciding factor. Some federal and state agencies can't buy DJI drones, so a Mavic 4 Pro may simply not be an option for them. Private businesses and creators in the US can still buy and fly DJI models that were FCC-authorized before December 2025. See is DJI banned in the US.

Which to pick

If your work is images, the Mavic 4 Pro gives you far more camera for the money. If you need thermal, rugged hardware, autonomous night operations or an NDAA-compliant aircraft for a contract, the X10 is in a different category, and the price reflects that. For DJI thermal options, see the Matrice 4T and our Mavic 4 Pro vs Matrice 4T comparison.
