The DJI Mini 4 Pro records its Home Point at the first spot with a strong GNSS signal (a white GPS icon), and DJI Fly confirms it with a voice prompt. You can update it in flight under Settings > Safety. To bring the drone back, press and hold the Flight Pause/RTH button on the controller until it beeps, or tap the RTH icon in DJI Fly. Press the button again to cancel.

Set and update the Home Point
- Power on in the open and wait for a white GPS icon.
- Wait for DJI Fly's Home Point recorded voice prompt before you fly off.
- Before takeoff, it updates again whenever the signal is strong.
- In flight, update it manually: settings, then Safety, then update the Home Point. Do this if you've moved, such as on a boat or a long walk.
Home point not updating? It won't update on a weak signal. Move away from buildings and trees, wait for the white icon, and try again.
The RTH button
On the RC-N2, RC-N3 and DJI RC 2, the Flight Pause/RTH button does two things:
- Press once: brake and hover.
- Press and hold until it beeps: start RTH. Press again to cancel.
RTH settings
In the camera view, tap settings, then Safety > RTH:
- Optimal: in good light, the drone plans the shortest path and sets its own altitude around obstacles. In poor light it uses Preset.
- Preset: it climbs to your RTH altitude before heading home (from more than 50 m away), avoiding obstacles when the sensors can see.
- RTH altitude: default 100 m (328 ft). Set it above the tallest obstacles and at or below 400 ft.
DJI recommends Preset with a high RTH altitude when power lines or towers are on the route.
When RTH starts by itself
- Low battery: DJI Fly warns when there's only enough power to get home and starts RTH after a countdown. Cancel and you may not have enough to land.
- Lost signal: if Advanced Safety Settings is set to RTH, it starts after more than six seconds without signal. In poor light, it first flies backward 50 m along its route.
Landing at home
Precision Landing compares the ground below with what the drone saw at takeoff and lands when they match. DJI Fly shows an AR Home Point, AR route and AR drone shadow on the way back (toggle them in Safety > AR Settings). Within 5 m of home, RTH just lands.
RTH not working? Check these
- No Home Point recorded because you took off before the prompt.
- Weak GPS, so it can't navigate home. DJI warns it may drift in ATTI mode.
- RTH altitude too low, so it stops at obstacles in poor light.
- Auto landing already started. DJI says RTH can't start during auto landing.
- Wind too strong to make headway. Turn back early.
- GEO zones can change the route.
- Cancelled by stick input: pulling the pitch stick fully back during RTH brakes and exits.

Test it
Over an open field, fly about 100 m out, check the RTH altitude, then hold the RTH button. Watch it climb, return and land, and keep it in sight the whole time.
