Is the DJI Neo Fly More Combo worth it?

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Yes, for most buyers. The DJI Neo Fly More Combo costs $411 with us, $225 more than the $186 Standard kit, and adds an RC-N3 controller, two extra batteries and the Two-Way Charging Hub. Bought separately, those extras cost $310 at our current prices, so the combo saves $85. One Neo battery is rated for about 18 minutes, and the RC-N3 unlocks Return to Home and longer range. Skip it only if you'll fly a few palm shots at a time.

Why the extras matter on the Neo

Three batteries. About 54 rated minutes per outing instead of 18. DJI says each battery handles at least 20 palm takeoffs and landings in a row, so one battery is enough for a handful of quick selfie shots but not a day of filming.

Charging hub. It holds three batteries and, with DJI's 65W Portable Charger, charges all three in about 60 minutes. It also works as a power bank for your phone. With a weaker USB charger it takes longer.

RC-N3 controller. This is the biggest upgrade. Without a controller, you fly the Neo with palm control, voice or the phone app over Wi-Fi. In those modes DJI limits it to 30 m of altitude and 50 m of distance, and Return to Home isn't supported. With the RC-N3 you get Return to Home, longer range and manual flight in Normal, Sport and Cine modes. See Neo controllers.

Who should buy the drone only

  • You want a pocket selfie drone for short clips.
  • You'll always fly within 50 m and never over water or crowds.
  • You plan to buy goggles and a motion controller for FPV, so the RC-N3 would go unused. See Neo goggles.

Who should get the combo

  • First-time pilots who want Return to Home as a safety net.
  • Travelers and vloggers who film for hours.
  • Anyone filming landscapes or reveal shots beyond 50 m.
  • Parents and kids sharing one drone, where spare batteries end arguments.

Tips for Neo owners

  1. Charge before you leave. The hub can top up batteries in a car from a USB-C PD charger.
  2. Keep the prop guards on. They protect the propellers and your hand during palm launches and landings.
  3. Use Cine mode for smooth shots when flying with the RC-N3.
  4. Know the rules. At 135 g the Neo doesn't need FAA registration for recreational flying, but you still need the free TRUST test. Paid content needs Part 107.

Quick answers

Can I add the RC-N3 later? Yes. It's sold separately for $142 at our current price.

Does the RC-N3 work with other DJI drones? Yes. The same controller also works with the Flip, Mini 4 Pro, Mini 5 Pro, Air 3 and Air 3S, so it stays useful if you upgrade.

How long does one battery last in real use? Less than the rated 18 minutes, especially with prop guards, wind or lots of palm launches. See Neo battery life.
