The DJI Neo doesn't take an SD card. It has no card slot and records everything to 22 GB of built-in storage, according to DJI. That holds roughly 39 minutes of video at the Neo's maximum 75 Mbps bitrate, which is about two full batteries of nonstop recording. Offload often, by QuickTransfer to your phone or USB-C to a computer.

How much fits in 22 GB
Our estimates, using the 75 Mbps max bitrate DJI lists:
| Footage | Approx. capacity |
|---|---|
| Video at 75 Mbps | About 39 minutes |
| Lower-bitrate 1080p | More, depending on settings |
| 12 MP JPEG photos | Thousands |
Exact numbers vary with resolution, frame rate and scene detail.
Does the Neo need an SD card?
No. You can fly and record straight out of the box. When the storage fills up, the Neo can't record more until you move or delete files. DJI's help center confirms the Neo works without a card; it's one of several DJI products with internal storage only.
How to get files off the Neo
QuickTransfer to your phone. In DJI Fly, open the album or tap QuickTransfer on the home screen. DJI quotes up to 25 MB/s on 5.8 GHz Wi-Fi with the phone within 2 m of the Neo. If your phone or region can't use 5.8 GHz, it falls back to 2.4 GHz at up to 6 MB/s. No Wi-Fi password needed; DJI Fly prompts you. See Neo transfer and QuickTransfer not working.
USB-C to a computer. Plug the Neo into a computer with a data cable. DJI says the Neo doesn't need to be powered on to export footage. DJI's manual says not to connect the Neo to a USB port older than USB 3.0.
Where a microSD card does go
If you fly the Neo with goggles, the DJI Goggles N3 and Goggles 3 have their own microSD slot, which DJI uses for things like playing videos in the goggles' album. Your footage from the Neo's camera still records to the Neo's internal storage. See Neo goggles.
Storage tips
- Clear it before every trip. Copy files off and check they open, then delete them from the Neo.
- Shoot 4K only when you need it. 1080p takes less space and moves faster over Wi-Fi.
- Power off properly. DJI warns that switching off incorrectly can lose camera settings and affect recordings.
- Back up twice. Internal storage means a lost or damaged drone takes unsaved clips with it.
If you want a card slot
The DJI Flip has 2 GB internal and a microSD slot, and the DJI Mini 5 Pro has 42 GB internal plus a microSD slot. Compare in Neo alternatives.
For a pocket drone that just works, get the DJI Neo; there's no card to buy or forget.
