The Osmo Action Extreme Battery Plus is a 1950 mAh battery that fits the Osmo Action 6, Action 5 Pro, Action 4 and Action 3, plus the Osmo 360 and Osmo 360 II. DJI rates the Osmo Action 5 Pro, which ships with this battery, at up to 240 minutes of recording in its lab test. On an Osmo Action 4, it holds about 10% more energy than the 1770 mAh battery the Action 4 came with. It's built for the cold and works down to -20° C (-4° F).

Compatibility
DJI's store lists these cameras:
- Osmo Action 6
- Osmo Action 5 Pro
- Osmo Action 4
- Osmo Action 3
- Osmo 360
- Osmo 360 II
It doesn't fit the Osmo Action 2 or the original Osmo Action, which use different batteries. Retailers note that the Action 4 and Action 3 should be on the latest firmware, so update through DJI Mimo before first use.
Runtime
Osmo Action 5 Pro: DJI rates it at up to 4 hours (240 minutes), and up to 3.6 hours at -20° C. Both figures were measured recording 1080p/24fps with RockSteady on, Wi-Fi off and screens off.
Osmo Action 4: DJI hasn't published a figure for the Action 4 with this battery. Its stock 1770 mAh battery is rated at 160 minutes under the same kind of test. The Plus holds 7.5 Wh versus 6.8 Wh, so expect roughly 10% more time, not the Action 5 Pro's 4 hours.
Real-world use will be shorter than any lab figure. 4K, high frame rates, Wi-Fi, a bright screen and heat all cut runtime. Keep a spare for full days.
Cold-weather tips
The battery is designed for low temperatures, but cold still slows any lithium battery.
- Keep spares in an inside pocket until you need them.
- Start the day fully charged.
- Swap at 20% or so rather than running to empty in the cold.
- Charge only between 5° and 40° C. Let a cold battery warm up first.
Charging
Charge it in the camera over USB-C, or in a battery case. The Osmo Multifunctional Battery Case 3 holds and charges three batteries plus two microSD cards and doubles as a power bank. The Action 5 Pro supports fast charging with DJI's 30W USB-C charger.
Is it worth buying?
For Action 5 Pro and Action 6 owners, it's simply the standard battery, so a spare or two is the easiest upgrade. For Action 4 and Action 3 owners, it's the best replacement battery and the better choice for winter sports.
The Extreme Battery Plus is available from $54. See Osmo Action 5 Pro battery life or Osmo Action 5 Pro accessories, and shop the Osmo Action Extreme Battery Plus.
