To open the Osmo Action 5 Pro charging port, press the release button on the USB-C port cover and slide the cover down. That exposes the USB-C port. It doesn't flip open like older action cameras, so pulling outward won't work. Close it fully by sliding it back up until it locks, especially before the camera goes near water.

Step by step
- Dry the camera first. Opening a wet cover lets water drip onto the port.
- Find the USB-C port cover on the side of the camera.
- Press and hold the release button on the cover.
- Slide the cover down while holding the button. The port is now open.
- Plug in a USB-C cable. DJI recommends a Type-C to Type-C PD cable with the DJI 30W USB-C Charger, or another charger that supports USB Power Delivery or PPS.
- Close the cover after charging: slide it back up until it's flush and locked.
The battery compartment cover works the same way: press its release button and slide it up. DJI says no red marks should be visible at the bottom when it's closed correctly.
Cover stuck or hard to slide?
- Sand or salt. Grit under the cover is the usual cause. Rinse the closed camera in fresh water, let it dry, then try again.
- Press the button fully. The cover won't slide unless the release button is pressed all the way.
- Don't pry with a tool. Screwdrivers and knives scratch the seal, and a damaged seal ends the camera's waterproofing.
- Cage or mount in the way. Some third-party cages cover the port area. Remove the cage, or use one with a cutout for the port.
If the cover is cracked or won't lock closed, don't take the camera into water. Contact us at 1-800-613-6323 or start a repair.
Charging tips
- Use while charging: DJI says the camera can run from USB-C power, even without a battery. Subject Tracking and SuperNight need a battery installed.
- Charge in moderate temperatures. The Extreme Battery Plus charges between 5° and 40° C (41° and 104° F).
- Charge spares outside the camera. The Multifunctional Battery Case 3 holds three batteries and two microSD cards, charges them, and works as a power bank for your phone.
- Not charging? Try another cable and a PD charger, and make sure the battery is seated with the cover fully closed.

Before you swim or dive
The Action 5 Pro is rated to 20 m without a case, but only with everything sealed. DJI says to close the battery compartment cover and the USB-C port cover and to tighten the glass lens cover before going underwater.
- Check that both covers are flush with no gap.
- Wipe any sand or hair off the seals first.
- After salt water or chlorine, rinse with fresh water and let the camera air dry fully before opening any cover.
Full depth ratings are in Osmo Action 5 Pro waterproof depth.
Charging from a power bank or car
Any USB-C power bank or car charger that supports PD will charge the camera. Charging while recording is handy for long timelapses or a dash-mounted camera, but keep the port cover open only in dry conditions.
