DJI rates the Osmo Pocket 3 at 166 minutes of recording per charge, tested at 1080p/24fps with Wi-Fi and the screen off at room temperature. Shooting 4K with the screen on uses power faster, so expect less in real use. The battery is built in, so there are no swappable spares; instead, the Osmo Pocket 3 Battery Handle adds about 62% (roughly 103 minutes), and fast charging gets you to 80% in 16 minutes.

Battery specs
| Spec | Osmo Pocket 3 |
|---|---|
| Battery | 1300 mAh, 10.01 Wh, built in |
| Rated runtime | 166 min (1080p/24fps, Wi-Fi and screen off) |
| Fast charge | 80% in 16 min, 100% in 32 min (DJI 65W PD charger, sold separately) |
| Operating temperature | 0° to 40° C (32° to 104° F) |
| Charging temperature | 5° to 45° C (41° to 113° F) |
At about 10 Wh, it's well under the 100 Wh airline limit, so it flies in carry-on without approval.
The Battery Handle (the "extra battery")
Because the camera's battery isn't removable, DJI's answer is a grip that clips onto the bottom:
- 950 mAh, about 62% more operating time (about 103 extra minutes at 1080p/24, per DJI).
- Hot-swappable, so you can attach it while the camera is on.
- USB-C port on the back for wired mics, USB-C headphones or a wireless mic receiver.
- 1/4" thread for tripods.
- 64.6 g. It can't charge your phone.
It comes in the Creator Combo. See is the Creator Combo worth it.
Charging tips
- Use a fast USB-C PD charger. DJI's 16-minute figure uses its 65W PD charger; slower chargers take longer.
- Use it while charging: yes. DJI says the Pocket 3 runs from the power input while recording and charges the battery only after recording stops. That makes a USB-C power bank good for long timelapses or streams.
- Charge with the Handle With 1/4" Thread if you want to charge while it stands on a tripod; it moves the USB-C port to the back.
- The Pocket 3 can't charge your phone.
How to make each charge last
- Screen off while recording. Swipe down, go to settings and set Scrn Off When Rec (3 s up to 10 min).
- Lower the frame rate. 4K/30 instead of 4K/60 or 120 for long clips.
- Keep Wi-Fi off unless you're transferring to DJI Mimo.
- Stay warm. Below 0° C you're outside DJI's operating range and battery drains fast.
- Avoid overheating in long 4K sessions in the sun; see Pocket 3 overheating.
- Fold it away between shots; rotating the screen powers it off.
How long will a day of vlogging last?
For short clips through a travel day, a full battery plus the handle usually covers it. For hour-long talks, events or live streams, run it from a power bank. Plan around DJI's numbers as a best case.
Battery won't charge or drains fast?
Try another cable and charger, check the temperature, and update firmware in DJI Mimo. If it won't turn on at all, see Pocket 3 won't turn on. Shop the Osmo Pocket 3 or see all Pocket 3 accessories.
