An Osmo Pocket 3 that won't turn on usually has a flat battery. Charge it with a USB-C Power Delivery charger and the included cable for at least 15 minutes, then rotate the screen clockwise or press the Shutter/Record button once. If it won't charge, try a different charger and cable, check it isn't too hot or cold, and remove the battery handle to charge the camera directly.

How to turn it on
From DJI's manual: rotate the touchscreen clockwise or press the Shutter/Record button once to power on. Press and hold the Shutter button for one second, or rotate the screen back, to power off.
If Screen Rotate & Capture is on, rotating the screen starts recording right away and the camera powers off two seconds after you stop. That can look like it shuts itself off.
Not charging
- Use a USB-C PD charger. DJI recommends its 65W Portable Charger, 30W USB-C Charger or another USB-C Power Delivery charger. A basic phone brick or laptop USB-A port charges slowly or not at all.
- Use the included Type-C to Type-C PD cable, or another quality USB-C cable. Swap the cable before blaming the camera.
- Check the screen. DJI says you can see the charge status on the touchscreen while it charges powered off.
- Check the temperature. DJI lists a charging range of 5° to 45° C (41° to 113° F). Let a hot camera cool, or a cold one warm up.
- Clean the port. DJI suggests an air blower or soft brush, sweeping from the inside of the USB-C port outward.
Battery handle catches
- Charge order. DJI says that with the battery handle mounted, the handle won't start charging until the camera's battery is full.
- Plug into the handle. With a handle mounted, charge through the USB-C port on the back of the handle.
- Handle LED blinks red twice: it's too hot or cold to use. Wait for it to return to normal.
- Handle LED blinks yellow: a handle firmware update failed. Reattach it to the camera and try again.
- Handle LED blinks red three times: the handle is empty.
Charging from a computer
When you plug into a computer, the Pocket 3 asks about file transfer. Tap Cancel to only charge. Computer USB ports supply little power, so charging is slow.
Charges but won't turn on
- Deeply drained. Leave it on a PD charger for 30 minutes before trying again.
- Frozen. If the screen is stuck, keep it on the charger, then try powering off with a one-second Shutter press and back on.
- Firmware. If it started after an update, connect it to DJI Mimo and reinstall the latest firmware once it powers on. Keep the battery above 15% during updates, as DJI advises.
- Long storage. DJI recommends storing batteries partly charged; a battery left empty for months may not recover.
When to get it repaired
If it won't charge with a known-good PD charger and cable, gets hot while charging, or the case bulges, stop using it and start a repair. DJI Care Refresh for Pocket 3 covers accidental damage.
