How to shoot D-Log M on the Osmo Pocket 3

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

To shoot D-Log M on the Osmo Pocket 3, go to Video mode, swipe left from the right edge of the screen, tap PRO, and set Colors to D-Log M. It records 10-bit, flat-looking footage with more dynamic range for color grading. Expose it carefully, set white balance manually, then convert it in your editor with DJI's free "DJI OSMO Pocket 3 D-Log M to Rec.709" LUT.

Pocket 3 D-Log M
D-Log M lives in the Pro settings on the Pocket 3. It records 10-bit for grading and needs DJI's LUT or a manual grade to look normal.

Is the Osmo Pocket 3 10-bit?

Yes. DJI's manual says D-Log M uses 10-bit color depth for smoother color transitions, and HLG records 10-bit too. D-Log M is available in:

  • Video mode (Pro settings).
  • Slow Motion at 120 fps (4K 4x), added in a firmware update. It isn't offered at 240 fps.
  • Webcam mode, added in February 2025 firmware.

Low-Light mode doesn't offer the Colors setting, so it records Normal color.

Turn it on, step by step

  1. Select Video as the shooting mode.
  2. Swipe left from the right edge of the screen.
  3. Tap PRO in the corner.
  4. Open Colors and choose D-Log M.
  5. Set exposure, white balance and focus (below).

Check the Colors setting before each shoot, and switch back to Normal before handing the camera to someone who won't edit the footage.

Best D-Log M settings

Setting Recommendation
Resolution 4K, 24, 25 or 30 fps
Exposure M (manual)
ISO As low as the light allows
Shutter About double the frame rate: 1/50 at 24 fps, 1/60 at 30
White balance Manual (for example 5600K daylight, 3200K tungsten)
Video compression HEVC for smaller files

The Pocket 3's lens is a fixed f/2.0, so in sunshine you'll need an ND filter to hold a 1/50 or 1/60 shutter at low ISO. DJI lists a Magnetic ND Filters Set among the Pocket 3 accessories. See Pocket 3 ND filters.

Exposing log correctly

  • Protect highlights. Bright skies or windows that clip can't be recovered.
  • Don't underexpose. Dark log footage gets noisy when you brighten it.
  • Lock exposure for sit-down shots so brightness doesn't shift.
  • Use manual white balance. A LUT works best when every clip starts from the same balance.

Grade with DJI's free LUT

  1. Download "DJI OSMO Pocket 3 D-Log M to Rec.709" from the Pocket 3 downloads page.
  2. In DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro or Final Cut, balance exposure and white balance first.
  3. Apply the LUT on the next node or as an input LUT.
  4. Add a creative look afterward. DJI also offers a free "Rec.709 to Color Grading LUTs" pack for this step.

Full editor-by-editor steps are in D-Log M to Rec.709.

D-Log M, HLG or Normal?

  • D-Log M: best if you grade every clip.
  • HLG: for HDR playback on HLG-compatible TVs and phones.
  • Normal: ready to post straight from DJI Mimo. Best for quick vlogs.

DJI notes that D-Log M is not a LUT but a flat color profile. Footage looks gray until you convert it. If you post from your phone without editing, stay in Normal.
