The Osmo Pocket 3 Expansion Adapter is a small clip-on piece that gives the Pocket 3 two things it doesn't have on its own: a cold shoe and an action camera mounting port. The cold shoe holds a small light or mic receiver. The action camera port lets the Pocket 3 use most Osmo Action mounting accessories, such as the Osmo Backpack Strap Mount DJI names as an example. That opens up chest, backpack, bike and helmet-style setups that the Pocket 3 can't do out of the box.

What it's for
Mounting the Pocket 3 like an action camera. The Pocket 3 is a handheld gimbal camera. Without the adapter, mounting it to your body or gear is awkward. With the adapter, it clips onto Osmo Action mounts, so you can:
- Wear it on a backpack strap for walking tours and hiking POV.
- Use Osmo Action quick-release mounts you already own.
- Mount it in places where holding it isn't practical.
Adding a light or mic. The cold shoe holds a small LED panel for vlogging at night, or another small accessory. DJI Mic 2 transmitters connect to Pocket 3 wirelessly, so most people use the cold shoe for lighting.
What it isn't
- It's not a stabilizer or a battery. It only adds mounting points.
- It doesn't make the Pocket 3 waterproof or rugged. The gimbal is still exposed. Read is Osmo Pocket 3 waterproof before taking it near water.
- It's not for every Osmo Action accessory. DJI says "most," so check fit before you rely on a specific mount.
Tips for mounted shooting
- Use the right gimbal mode. When the Pocket 3 is mounted to your body, Follow mode smooths your movement. See Pocket 3 gimbal modes.
- Watch the weight. A light plus a mic on top shifts the balance. Keep accessories small.
- Secure everything. Double-check the quick-release before walking or riding.
- Mind the screen. The rotating screen powers the camera on and off, so be sure it's set the way you want before mounting.
Who should buy it
- Pocket 3 owners who already have Osmo Action mounts.
- Travel and walking-tour vloggers who want hands-free footage.
- Anyone who wants a light on the camera for evening shots.
If you only film handheld, you may not need it. The Wide-Angle Lens or a mic may be a better first accessory.
The adapter is available from $21. See more ideas in Osmo Pocket 3 mounts and Osmo Pocket 3 accessories, and shop the Osmo Pocket 3 Expansion Adapter.
