Is the Osmo Pocket 3 waterproof? Rain, snow and underwater options

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

No. DJI's own FAQ says plainly that the Osmo Pocket 3 is not waterproof, and DJI doesn't list any water or dust resistance rating for it. Keep it out of rain, spray and pools, and don't take it underwater. DJI doesn't make an underwater case for it either. If you want to film in or around water, use a waterproof action camera like the Osmo Action 5 Pro, which goes to 20 m without a case.

Osmo Pocket 3 and water
DJI's FAQ says the Pocket 3 isn't waterproof, and its rated operating range is 0° to 40° C. For water, DJI's Osmo Action 5 Pro is the camera to use.

Why water is a problem for the Pocket 3

The Pocket 3 has an exposed 3-axis gimbal with motors, a rotating touchscreen, open microphone holes and a USB-C port. None of these are sealed. Water in the motors or electronics can stop the gimbal working or kill the camera, and regular warranty doesn't cover water damage.

Rain

  • Light drizzle: short use is a risk you take. Shield it with your hand, a hood or an umbrella, and put it away when the rain picks up.
  • Steady rain: don't use it. The protective cover is for storage and transport, not weatherproofing.
  • Afterward: wipe it dry with a soft cloth, leave it powered off, and let it air dry fully before charging.

Snow and cold

DJI rates the Pocket 3 to operate from 0° to 40° C (32° to 104° F) and to charge between 5° and 45° C. Below freezing you're outside DJI's operating range, the battery drains faster and melting snow on the gimbal is still water. For ski days and winter hikes, the Osmo Action 5 Pro is rated down to -20° C.

If you do take the Pocket 3 out in the cold, keep it in an inside pocket between shots and let it warm up in a sealed bag before bringing it into a warm room, to limit condensation.

Beach and pool

Sand and salt spray are as bad as water for the gimbal. Keep it in its cover or bag between shots and never set it down on sand.

What about an underwater case?

DJI doesn't sell one. If you look at third-party housings, know that DJI doesn't test them, you can't use the touchscreen or joystick through most housings, and any leak would be water damage. We don't recommend the Pocket 3 for underwater use.

Protect it with DJI Care Refresh

DJI describes Care Refresh for the Pocket 3 as covering accidental damage including water damage, with a set number of replacements for a fee. If you'll use it near water a lot, it's worth adding. See DJI Care Refresh.
