Real estate drone photography pricing: what to charge

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Real estate drone photography is usually sold as a package price per listing, not by the hour, and what agents pay depends on the market, the size of the property and what's included. There's no national standard rate. A basic photo-only package costs the least; adding video, twilight shots, lot lines and ground photos raises the price. Set your packages from your own costs and editing time, then check them against what other local providers list.

Real estate package tiers
Tiered packages let agents choose by listing value. Price each tier from your shoot time, editing time and travel, not from flight minutes.

What changes the price

  • Deliverables: number of edited photos, video length, vertical social cuts, music licensing.
  • Property type: a city lot is quick; acreage, ranches and waterfront estates need more flying, more shots and lot-line graphics.
  • Twilight shoots: a separate trip at dusk, often bundled with interior lights on.
  • Ground photography: bundling interior and exterior photos with aerials is worth more per visit.
  • Airspace: listings near airports may need LAANC authorization or a waiver, adding planning time.
  • Travel: charge a trip fee beyond a set radius.
  • Turnaround and rush fees.
  • Market: pricing follows local home values and competition.

Building your packages

  1. Time a typical job. Drive, setup, flight, packing, culling and editing. Editing usually takes longer than flying.
  2. Know your hourly cost. Add drone replacement, batteries, insurance, software, vehicle and marketing, plus the income you need, then divide by the hours you can actually bill. See drone photography pricing.
  3. Multiply your hourly cost by the hours each tier takes, then round to a clean number.
  4. Compare with local photographers' published packages. If you're far under, raise prices; if far over, make sure your portfolio and turnaround justify it.
  5. Add a volume rate for agents and builders who book every month.

Add-ons that sell

  • Lot or property-line overlays for land listings
  • Vertical video for Reels, TikTok and Shorts
  • Twilight or sunrise aerials
  • Neighborhood and amenity shots (parks, schools, water)
  • 360 aerial panoramas
  • Rush delivery

What agents look for

Agents care about consistent quality, next-day delivery, MLS-ready files and a pilot who shows up licensed and insured. Price is only one part. A reliable pilot who delivers on time often keeps clients at a higher rate than a cheaper one who doesn't.

Gear that keeps costs down

A DJI Mini 4 Pro (from $835) handles most listings. The DJI Air 3S (from $1,209) adds a 1-inch sensor and 70 mm telephoto for twilight and premium work. Spare batteries mean you can finish a shoot without a recharge trip.
