DJI Avata 2 LUT: D-Log M to Rec.709 color grading

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

DJI provides a free official LUT for the Avata 2 named "DJI Avata 2 D-Log M to Rec.709 V1," a .cube file you can download from the Avata 2 downloads page. Apply it to your D-Log M clips in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro to turn flat log footage into standard Rec.709 contrast and color.

What D-Log M does on the Avata 2

The Avata 2 has two color modes: Standard and D-Log M. D-Log M is a 10-bit log profile that keeps more detail in bright skies and shaded areas, which matters in FPV where the camera swings from sun to shadow in a second. It looks gray and flat until you grade it.

Set it in the goggles: push the 5D button forward from the FPV view to open camera settings, and set Color to D-Log M.

How to apply the Avata 2 LUT

DaVinci Resolve

  1. Project Settings, Color Management, Lookup Tables, Open LUT Folder. Copy in the .cube file and click Update Lists.
  2. On the Color page, correct exposure and white balance on the first node.
  3. Add a second node and apply the Avata 2 LUT from the right-click LUT menu.

Premiere Pro

  1. Open Lumetri Color.
  2. Under Basic Correction, set Input LUT to Browse and pick the file.
  3. Adjust exposure, contrast and white balance.

Final Cut Pro

  1. Add the Custom LUT effect.
  2. In the Inspector, open the LUT menu, pick Choose Custom LUT, and select the file.

Grading tips for FPV footage

  • Stabilize before grading if you use Gyroflow. Gyroflow works on clips shot with EIS off in the Wide FOV. See how to edit FPV footage with Gyroflow.
  • Expose for the sky. Fast flights pass through very different light. Protect highlights; you can lift shadows later.
  • Lock white balance in the camera settings so color doesn't drift mid-flight.
  • Keep ISO low. In daylight, use ND filters for a natural shutter instead of high shutter speeds. In low light, D-Log M shows noise sooner once graded, so Standard may look cleaner at dusk.
  • Correct, then convert. Exposure and white balance changes go before the LUT.

Use the right LUT file

Each DJI camera has its own conversion LUT. Use the Avata 2 file, not one for the Mini 4 Pro, Air 3S or an action camera. Creative LUTs can go after DJI's conversion, not in place of it.
