Not in any useful way. DJI's consumer drones, including the Mini, Air, Mavic and Avata series, have no rated payload capacity, and their manuals say not to add any payload except official accessories. Extra weight cuts flight time, strains the motors and can make the drone unstable. If you need to lift something, DJI makes drones for that: the Matrice 400 carries up to 6 kg of payloads, the FlyCart 30 carries 30 kg of cargo, and the Agras T100 can lift 100 kg with its lifting system.

Consumer drones: what DJI says
From DJI's own manuals:
- Air 3S and Mavic 4 Pro: "DO NOT add any payload to the aircraft except the items listed" as qualified accessories.
- Avata 2: to keep its C1 class in Europe, don't add payloads, even propeller guards.
- Mini 4 Pro: with the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus, don't mount a propeller guard or third-party accessories, because added weight affects propulsion.
So there's no official "Mavic 4 Pro payload capacity" or "Air 3S payload capacity." The motors have some reserve for wind and climbing, and adding weight eats into that margin. The usual results are shorter flights, overheating motors, poorer wind resistance and, on sub-250 g drones, losing the registration exemption.
People still hang small fishing lines and bait releases from consumer drones. If you do, understand you're outside DJI's guidance. See drone fishing release mechanisms.
DJI drones that are made to carry things
| Drone | What it carries | DJI rating |
|---|---|---|
| Matrice 350 RTK | Zenmuse cameras and sensors | 9.2 kg max takeoff vs 6.47 kg with batteries; 960 g per single gimbal damper |
| Matrice 400 | Zenmuse payloads, up to three | 6 kg max payload; 59 min rated without payload |
| FlyCart 30 | Cargo box or 20 m winch | 30 kg (dual battery), 40 kg (single battery) |
| Agras T100 | Spray, spread or lifting system | 100 kg lifting load |
The FlyCart 30 is DJI's delivery drone. DJI rates it at 16 km of range with 30 kg in dual-battery mode, and 18 minutes of flight at that load. It weighs 65 kg with two batteries, so it falls far outside small-drone rules. See how to become a drone delivery pilot.
Rules for carrying and dropping things
- Dropping objects: under Part 107 you may not drop an object that creates an undue hazard to people or property.
- 55 lb and up: Part 107 covers drones under 55 lb including payload. The FlyCart 30 and Agras drones need an FAA exemption to fly. See Part 107.
- Hazardous materials: Part 107 prohibits carrying them.
Osmo Mobile 6 and other "payload" questions
"Payload" also comes up for DJI gimbals. The Osmo Mobile 6 handles phones weighing 170 to 290 g, and the DJI RS 4 is rated for 3 kg of camera. See what is a gimbal.
