DJI Goggles 3 OSD setup with Betaflight and the O4 Air Unit

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

To get Betaflight OSD on DJI Goggles 3 with an O4 Air Unit, wire the air unit's RX to a spare UART TX on your flight controller, enable MSP on that UART at 115200 baud in Betaflight's Ports tab, set Peripherals to MSP + DisplayPort (Betaflight Configurator 4.4.0 or later), then save and reboot. DJI calls this Canvas Mode. You then choose and place OSD elements in Betaflight's OSD tab.

Betaflight OSD on Goggles 3
DJI's Canvas Mode setup for the O4 Air Unit with Betaflight Configurator 4.3.0 or later. On 4.3, use the CLI commands instead of the Peripherals setting.

What you need

  • DJI Goggles 3 (or Goggles N3, Goggles 2 or Integra) on current firmware
  • A DJI O4 Air Unit or O4 Air Unit Pro, activated with DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series)
  • A flight controller running Betaflight, configured with Betaflight Configurator 4.3.0 or later
  • A free UART on the flight controller

Step 1: wiring

The O4's 3-in-1 cable has, per DJI's manual:

Wire Signal Connect to
Red Power in 3.7 to 13.2 V (O4), 7.4 to 26.4 V (O4 Pro)
White Air unit UART RX Flight controller UART TX
Grey Air unit UART TX Flight controller UART RX
Yellow DJI HDL Flight controller S.Bus (only with DJI FPV Remote Controller 3)
Black / brown Power GND / signal GND Ground

For OSD, the essential link is air unit RX to flight controller TX. If you fly with an ELRS or other receiver, you don't need the yellow wire.

Step 2: Betaflight settings

Betaflight Configurator 4.4.0 or later:

  1. Open the Ports tab.
  2. On the UART you wired (say UART4), turn on MSP and set the baud rate to 115200.
  3. Set Peripherals on that UART to MSP + DisplayPort.
  4. Click Save and Reboot.

Betaflight Configurator 4.3.x: do steps 1, 2 and 4, then in the CLI enter:

set osd_displayport_device = MSP
set displayport_msp_serial = 3
save

The displayport_msp_serial value is the UART number minus one, so UART4 is 3.

Step 3: lay out the OSD

Open Betaflight's OSD tab and turn on the elements you want, such as battery voltage, flight time, RSSI or link quality, and warnings. Drag them where you like. They show in the goggles over the live view.

The goggles also have their own DJI on-screen info. Goggles recordings include the on-screen display by default; turn off Camera View Recording under Settings, Camera, Advanced Camera Settings for a clean goggles recording.

INAV: since March 2025 firmware, Goggles 3 and the O4 Air Units support INAV's OSD too.

Racing mode

Racing mode is in the goggles' Transmission menu and works with Goggles 3 and Goggles N3. When it's on, per DJI:

  • Channels are manual only, with up to 8 racing channels (fewer in some countries).
  • Bandwidth is 20 or 40 MHz.
  • Video is fixed at 1080p/100fps (4:3).
  • Anti-interference is off and bitrate is reduced for the lowest latency.

DJI quotes latency as low as 20 ms with the O4 Air Unit and Goggles 3 in racing mode. Agree channels in advance when flying with others.

ELRS and interference

The O4's video channels sit in the 5.1 and 5.8 GHz bands. To keep a 2.4 GHz ELRS link clean, follow DJI's install advice: keep the air unit's antennas at least 5 cm from the air unit and camera, and keep the receiver antenna as far from the video system and other electronics as the frame allows. Check that video and control links aren't sharing a band with other devices nearby.

No OSD? Check these

  1. RX and TX swapped. Air unit RX goes to flight controller TX.
  2. MSP not enabled, or enabled on the wrong UART.
  3. Baud rate isn't 115200.
  4. displayport_msp_serial doesn't equal the UART number minus one (4.3 only).
  5. OSD elements aren't turned on in the OSD tab.
  6. Goggles set to the wrong product. Open Status and select the O4.
  7. Old firmware. Update the air unit in DJI Assistant 2 and the goggles in DJI Fly. See Goggles 3 firmware update.
