DJI Goggles 3 transmission settings live in the goggles menu under Transmission > Pilot. For most flying, leave Channel Mode on Auto, use 1080p/100fps live view for the lowest latency, and only change bandwidth or switch to manual channels when you fly with other pilots or in heavy interference. The on-screen display (OSD) shows battery, signal, bitrate and telemetry; it's on by default in goggles recordings and can be turned off there.

Opening the menus
- Press the 5D button, or push it right: goggles menu (Status, Album, Transmission, Settings).
- Push it forward: camera settings for the drone.
- Push it backward: shortcut menu (record, Enhanced Display, head tracking, Wi-Fi sharing, Easy ACRO, defog, brightness).
DJI notes that menu options vary by aircraft and goggles firmware, so you may not see every item below.
The Transmission menu
The menu has a Pilot sub-menu for your own link and an Audience sub-menu for watching others.
| Setting | What it does | What to pick |
|---|---|---|
| Broadcasting mode | Shows a device number so other goggles can watch your live view | On only when sharing |
| Focus mode | Off or Auto, on certain aircraft | Try both, keep what you like |
| Channel mode | Auto or Manual | Auto for solo flying |
| Frequency band | 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz, in Manual | Whichever is quieter where you fly |
| Bandwidth | Wider = sharper image, but more interference and fewer pilots | Lower in crowded areas |
DJI recommends Auto channel mode so the link switches bands and picks the cleanest channel by itself. Its advice for group flying is the opposite: to avoid interference at a multi-pilot event, set a fixed bandwidth and channel manually, agreed with everyone flying.
Live view quality and latency
With the Avata 2, DJI quotes 24 ms latency at 1080p/100fps and 40 ms at 1080p/60fps. Use 100fps unless you have a reason not to. Max bitrate is 60 Mbps, and max range with the Avata 2 is 13 km (FCC) or 10 km (CE), measured in open, interference-free conditions.
Some regions restrict the 5.1 GHz or 5.8 GHz bands. The goggles follow local rules, so the bands you see depend on where you are.
Racing mode
On Goggles 3 and Goggles N3 with an O4 Air Unit, racing mode fixes the link for the lowest latency: manual channels only, 20 or 40 MHz bandwidth, 1080p/100fps at 4:3, and anti-interference off. DJI quotes latency as low as 20 ms with the O4 Air Unit. Use it at organized races, not for long-range cinematic flying. Setup is covered in Goggles 3 OSD with Betaflight.
Reading the OSD
DJI's manual lists these on-screen items, among others:
- Signal strength for control and video: white is strong, orange is weak, red is very weak.
- Video bitrate of the live view. A falling number is an early warning.
- GNSS status and vision system status.
- Flight telemetry: distance (D) and height (H) from home, horizontal and vertical speed.
- Remaining flight time and battery levels for the aircraft and goggles.
- Home point direction.
If the signal icon turns orange, turn back or climb to clear obstacles. Don't wait for red.
OSD in recordings
Goggles recordings include the OSD by default. To record a clean view, open Settings > Camera > Advanced Camera Settings and turn off Camera View Recording. For custom builds, Betaflight or INAV can add their own OSD elements over the DJI view.
Watching someone else fly
On the second pair of goggles, open Transmission > Audience, pick the pilot's device number, and you'll see their live view. Both pairs must select the same aircraft model.
