DJI Mic 2 Bluetooth: recording straight to your phone

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

To use DJI Mic 2 over Bluetooth, power on a transmitter, press and hold its record button for three seconds until the LED blinks blue, then hold the link button for two seconds and pick DJI-MIC2-XXXXXX in your phone's Bluetooth settings. A solid blue LED means it's connected. Hold the record button for three seconds again to switch back to the receiver. Over Bluetooth to a phone, noise cancelling and internal recording are unavailable.

Mic 2 Bluetooth pairing
DJI's steps for pairing one Mic 2 transmitter directly to a phone, no receiver needed. The record button switches between receiver and Bluetooth modes.

Receiver mode vs Bluetooth mode

Each Mic 2 transmitter works in one of two modes, shown by the system status LED:

LED Meaning
Solid green Linked to the Mic 2 receiver
Blinks green slowly Receiver mode, not linked
Solid blue Linked to a Bluetooth device
Blinks blue slowly Bluetooth mode, nothing linked
Blinks blue quickly Searching for Bluetooth devices

The record button (hold 3 s) switches between modes. That's how you change to Bluetooth and how you exit it. More LED meanings in DJI Mic 2 lights.

What you can connect over Bluetooth

  • Phones and tablets. One transmitter per phone.
  • DJI Osmo Pocket 3: up to two transmitters, with no receiver.
  • DJI Osmo Action 4: one transmitter.
  • DJI also lists the Osmo Action 5 Pro and Osmo 360 as compatible Mic 2 devices.

On DJI cameras, pair from the camera's settings rather than your phone. See Mic 2 with Osmo Pocket 3.

What changes over Bluetooth to a phone

  • No intelligent noise cancelling.
  • No internal (backup) recording.
  • Audio quality depends on the app and phone. DJI recommends third-party camera, video call, conference or livestream apps, and says to make sure your phone's native camera supports Bluetooth audio input. Many native camera apps keep using the built-in mic.
  • Remote shutter: pressing the link button can take a photo or start and stop video in apps where the phone's volume button does that.

For the best quality on a phone, use the receiver with a USB-C or Lightning adapter instead. See connect Mic 2 to an iPhone.

Can it play to a Bluetooth speaker?

No. The Mic 2 transmitter is a Bluetooth microphone, not an audio output. It can't send sound to a speaker or act as a PA mic. The transmitter's USB-C port does accept digital (USB-C) headphones for listening to phone audio.

Bluetooth not working

  1. Check the mode. If the LED is green, hold record for 3 seconds to switch to blue.
  2. Turn the phone's Bluetooth off and on, then hold link for 2 seconds and search again. DJI suggests this when the mic doesn't appear.
  3. Forget old pairings of DJI-MIC2 in the phone's Bluetooth list and pair fresh.
  4. Stop internal recording first. Old firmware couldn't switch to Bluetooth while recording; update if needed. See Mic 2 firmware update.
  5. Test your app with Bluetooth earbuds. If the app doesn't use Bluetooth mics, the Mic 2 won't work in it either.

If it still won't connect, see DJI Mic 2 not connecting to iPhone.

DJI Mic Mini over Bluetooth

The Mic Mini also pairs straight to phones, by holding the link button for 2 seconds. Its noise cancelling stays on at Strong when connected to a phone. See Mic Mini Bluetooth.
