How to update DJI Mic 2 firmware

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

To update DJI Mic 2, download the firmware .bin file from DJI's Mic 2 downloads page, connect the receiver (powered off) or a transmitter to a computer by USB-C, copy the file to the root of the device, then disconnect. The receiver updates by itself; a transmitter updates when you power it on. Repeat for each unit, then check the versions on the receiver. There's no app update for Mic 2.

Update DJI Mic 2 firmware
DJI's method for Mic 2. Update the receiver and each transmitter one at a time. Transmitter LEDs blink red and green while updating.

Step by step

  1. Download the Mic 2 firmware package from DJI's downloads page and unzip it if needed, so you have the .bin file.
  2. Remove the phone adapter from the receiver if it's attached.
  3. Connect one device to the computer with the USB-C cable that came with the kit:
    • Receiver: must be powered off when you connect it.
    • Transmitter: can be on or off.
  4. The device shows up as a drive. Copy the .bin file to its root folder, not into a subfolder.
  5. Disconnect from the computer.
    • The receiver starts updating automatically and its screen shows "updating."
    • Power on a transmitter to start its update. Its status LED blinks red and green alternately.
  6. Repeat for the second transmitter and the receiver.
  7. On the receiver, swipe down, open Settings, Version to check the receiver and linked transmitter versions.

Update not working?

  • Transmitter won't update after power on: DJI says to disable Auto Record on the receiver, or stop the transmitter's internal recording, then try again. A transmitter that starts recording as it powers on won't update.
  • Update failed: download the firmware again, restart the device and repeat. A corrupted download is the usual cause.
  • Computer doesn't see the device: use a data cable, not charge-only, and try another USB port. The receiver must be off when connected.
  • File in the wrong place: it must sit in the root directory.
  • Transmitter storage problems: the transmitter only supports FAT32 with an allocation unit of 16 KB or less. If you formatted it on a computer with other settings, format it from the receiver instead (Transmitter Settings, eMMC Storage).

After updating, re-link if needed by placing everything in the charging case. See how to pair DJI Mic 2.

Mic 2 vs Mic Mini updates

DJI Mic Mini updates through the DJI Mimo app on your phone instead of file copying. See Mic Mini firmware update.
