DJI is short for Da-Jiang Innovations, from the company's Chinese name. It uses "DJI" as its brand worldwide.
Is DJI Hasselblad?
No, they're different companies. Hasselblad is a Swedish camera brand known for medium-format cameras. Smaller drones like the Mini and Air series use DJI-branded cameras.

Why it matters in the US
US national security concerns about foreign-made drones, and DJI in particular, are why DJI faces restrictions here. In December 2025 the FCC added foreign-made drones, including DJI, to its Covered List, so new models can't get FCC authorization. Models authorized before that remain legal to buy, own and fly, and they keep getting updates. Read is DJI banned in the US and is DJI safe for the data security side.
