Where to buy DJI drones in the US (2026)

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Buy DJI drones in the US from an authorized DJI dealer, like us, or from a major retailer when the retailer itself is the seller. That way you get a genuine US unit with warranty support and the option to add DJI Care Refresh. Be careful with marketplace listings, grey-market imports and prices that look too good, especially now that some DJI models are scarce in the US.

Where to buy a DJI drone
An authorized dealer gives the most predictable result. Big-box stores are fine when the store itself is the seller. Marketplaces save money but carry the most risk.

Your options compared

Where Good for Watch out for
Authorized DJI dealer Genuine DJI stock, warranty, Care Refresh, help choosing Stock varies by model
Big-box stores and warehouse clubs Store returns, gift cards, occasional sales Bundles with different contents, limited model choice
Amazon and Walmart.com Fast shipping Third-party sellers mixed in with the retailer's own listings
eBay and local listings Used deals Grey-market units, bound accounts, worn batteries, scams

On Amazon, look at "Ships from" and "Sold by." A drone from an unknown third-party seller may not come with US warranty support.

Why "authorized" matters

Authorized dealers get stock through DJI's official channels for the US market. That affects three things:

  • Warranty. DJI's after-sales policy says products bought after August 1, 2016 are covered under warranty only if they were purchased from DJI authorized dealers. See DJI warranty in the USA.
  • Region. DJI doesn't offer a global warranty. Service is provided in the region where you bought the product, so a drone imported from Europe or Asia may need to go back there, or pay for cross-region repair.
  • Care Refresh. DJI says Care Refresh must be bought in the same country or region as the drone, and for most drones within 48 hours of activation. Buying both together is easiest. See DJI Care Refresh.

The 2026 situation

In December 2025 the FCC added foreign-made drones, including DJI, to its Covered List. New DJI models can't get FCC authorization, so they can't be sold here. Models authorized before that stay legal to buy, own and fly, and still get updates. Since September 3, 2026, imported drones also carry a Section 232 tariff, which has raised prices and thinned stock. Details: is DJI banned in the US.

What that means for you:

  • A listing for a brand-new DJI model that DJI never sold in the US is a red flag. It's either a grey-market import or a scam.
  • Prices are higher than in 2024. A deal far below a dealer's price for a scarce model is almost never real.

How to spot a bad listing

  • Price far below everyone else. Common with fake "clearance" sites and social media ads.
  • Payment by wire, Zelle, gift card or crypto only. Use a credit card or another method with buyer protection.
  • No US address or phone number, or a site registered recently.
  • Vague kit contents. Kits differ most in the controller and the number of batteries.
  • "New" with an activated drone. If the seller hasn't unbound it from their DJI account, you can't fully use it. See used and refurbished DJI drones.

Check before you pay

  1. Confirm the exact model and kit: which controller, how many batteries, which charger.
  2. Confirm the seller is the retailer or an authorized dealer.
  3. Ask whether the drone ships from the US and when.
  4. Decide on Care Refresh now. Adding it later is often not possible.
  5. Keep your receipt. DJI asks for proof of purchase for warranty claims.

Quick answers

Is it safe to buy a DJI drone on Amazon? Yes, when DJI, Amazon or an authorized dealer is the seller. Check the seller name.

Can I buy a DJI drone abroad and bring it home? You can carry one in, but US warranty and Care Refresh support may not apply, and new models without FCC authorization can't be legally marketed here.

Which DJI drones can I still buy new? Models authorized before the cutoff, such as the Mini 4 Pro, Neo and Air 3S. Stock changes week to week.
