Which app does the DJI Mavic 3 Classic use? DJI Fly setup guide

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Mavic 3 Classic uses the DJI Fly app. It doesn't work with the older DJI GO 4 app. On iPhone, install DJI Fly from the App Store; on Android, download it from DJI's website, since it isn't on Google Play. If your Mavic 3 Classic came with the DJI RC screen controller, DJI Fly is already installed on it.

Mavic 3 Classic controllers
DJI's Mavic 3 Classic release notes list firmware for all three controllers. Only the RC-N1 needs DJI Fly on your phone.

Download DJI Fly

Device Where DJI's current requirement
iPhone / iPad App Store, "DJI Fly" iOS 13.0 or later; iPhone 11 or newer recommended
Android APK from the DJI Fly download page Android 9.0 or later
DJI RC / DJI RC Pro Built in Update when prompted

Older Mavic 3 Classic manuals list lower minimums. Use the download page's current figures. For Android install steps, see install DJI Fly on Android. Phone problems? Check DJI Fly compatible phones.

Connect the RC-N1 and your phone

  1. Unscrew the control sticks from their storage slots and screw them into the controller.
  2. Pull out the phone holder. Pick the cable for your phone: Lightning, Micro USB or USB-C are all included. Connect the end with the phone icon to your phone.
  3. On Android, if a USB prompt appears, choose charge only. Other options can stop it connecting.
  4. Power on the controller and the drone, then open DJI Fly.

Activate the Mavic 3 Classic

  1. Remove the storage cover and unfold the front arms, then the rear arms.
  2. Power on the controller and the aircraft.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts in DJI Fly to activate. You need an internet connection.
  4. Bind the aircraft and controller when prompted. DJI recommends it for after-sales service, and DJI Care Refresh flyaway coverage requires it.
  5. Install any firmware update. See Mavic 3 Classic firmware update.

With the DJI RC, activate the controller first: power it on, connect to Wi-Fi and follow its prompts.

Stay connected and logged in

DJI limits flight to 30 m (98 ft) high and 50 m (164 ft) away when the app isn't connected or logged in. Logging in also lets you unlock GEO zones.

What DJI Fly does for the Mavic 3 Classic

  • Hasselblad camera settings, including 10-bit D-Log
  • Waypoint Flight (added in a 2022 update), QuickShots, MasterShots and Hyperlapse
  • Safety settings: RTH altitude, Advanced RTH and Home Point. See Mavic 3 Classic home point
  • Firmware updates for the drone, controller and batteries
