Which app does the DJI Mavic 4 Pro use? DJI Fly setup guide

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro uses the DJI Fly app. It comes with screen controllers, the DJI RC 2 or the DJI RC Pro 2, and DJI Fly is already installed on both. You only need DJI Fly on your phone for phone features such as QuickTransfer, which downloads photos and videos straight from the drone over Wi-Fi.

Do you need DJI Fly on your phone?
DJI's Mavic 4 Pro manual says screen controllers come with DJI Fly installed, and that you need DJI Fly on your phone for features such as QuickTransfer.

Download DJI Fly for your phone

Device Where
iPhone / iPad App Store, search "DJI Fly"
Android APK from the DJI Fly download page, not Google Play
DJI RC 2 / RC Pro 2 Preinstalled; update when prompted

DJI's manual points to the download page for the current iOS and Android versions it supports, and warns that DJI Fly's screens change between versions. For Android steps, see install DJI Fly on Android, and check DJI Fly compatible phones if your phone struggles.

Set up the controller

DJI RC 2:

  1. Mount the control sticks from their storage slots and unfold the antennas.
  2. Press, then press and hold the power button.
  3. Connect to Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot and follow the prompts to activate. DJI says activation needs internet.

DJI RC Pro 2:

  1. Unfold the antennas downward.
  2. Extend the arm to power it on (or press, then press and hold the power button).
  3. Connect to the internet and follow the activation prompts.

Activate and bind the Mavic 4 Pro

  1. Remove the storage cover. With a battery installed, press the drone's power button once to wake the battery.
  2. Unfold the arms. By default, unfolding the right rear arm powers the drone on.
  3. Follow DJI Fly's prompts to activate the drone online.
  4. The drone binds to the controller automatically. If that fails, follow the prompts to bind it. DJI says binding matters for warranty service.
  5. Install any firmware update. See Mavic 4 Pro firmware update.

Stay logged in

DJI limits flight to 30 m (98 ft) high and 50 m (164 ft) away when the drone isn't connected to or logged into the app. Logging in also keeps flight records and lets you update FlySafe GEO zone data under Settings > About.

What DJI Fly does on the Mavic 4 Pro

  • Controls for all three cameras: the Hasselblad main camera, the medium tele and the tele
  • Gimbal roll and vertical shooting. See Mavic 4 Pro gimbal control
  • FocusTrack, MasterShots, QuickShots, Hyperlapse, Cruise Control and Waypoint Flight
  • RTH settings and Dynamic Home Point. See Mavic 4 Pro home point
  • QuickTransfer, even while the drone is powered off
  • Firmware updates for the drone, controller and batteries

Third-party apps

The Mavic 4 Pro isn't on the supported products list for DJI's Mobile SDK, so third-party flight apps generally can't fly it. Plan on DJI Fly. More in DJI Fly vs Litchi.
