No. The DJI Mavic 3 Classic is not waterproof, and DJI doesn't list an IP rating for it. DJI's manual says not to fly in rain, snow or fog, and to keep the drone at least 3 m (10 ft) above water. Flying over lakes and the ocean is fine with care, but rain, spray and a water landing can all damage it, and that kind of damage isn't covered by the standard warranty.

What DJI says about weather
From the Classic's flight environment rules:
- Don't fly in severe weather, including wind over 12 m/s, snow, rain and fog.
- Don't fly when it's raining, foggy or visibility is poor; the vision sensors need clear sight.
- The DJI RC touchscreen isn't waterproof either.
There's no IP rating in the Classic's specs, so assume any water can get into the motors, vents, gimbal and battery contacts.
Caught in the rain?
- Head back and land as soon as it's safe.
- Power off and remove the battery.
- Dry the outside with a soft, absorbent cloth. Don't use alcohol or solvents.
- Leave it in a dry, warm room until completely dry before powering on.
- If it got soaked, don't power it on. Send it for inspection.
Flying over water
DJI's guidance for the Classic:
- Keep at least 3 m above water.
- Don't trust the downward sensors over water. The vision systems may not work properly over water or snow, and the drone may not be able to land properly over water.
- Have strong GPS before heading out, and set Return to Home altitude above any obstacles on the shore.
Other tips: take off and land on dry, solid ground, turn back with extra battery, and avoid hovering low over waves where spray can reach the drone. See flying a drone over water.
If it goes in the water
Retrieve it, remove the battery right away and don't try to power on. Salt water is especially damaging. Then send it for repair. See drone fell in water and our repair desk.
Warranty and Care Refresh
DJI's standard warranty covers defects, not water damage. DJI Care Refresh covers accidental damage, including water damage. In the US, the Care Refresh replacement fee for the Mavic 3 Classic is $129. See DJI Care Refresh and how to claim DJI Care Refresh.
Humid and cold conditions
The Classic's operating range is -10 to 40°C (14 to 104°F). In damp cold, condensation can form when you bring a cold drone into a warm room. Leave it in its bag to warm up slowly before opening it.
Need a weather-resistant drone?
DJI's consumer camera drones aren't built for rain. If your work demands it, look at enterprise drones with an IP rating in our enterprise collection. For everyday use, check the forecast and pick dry windows. See can you fly a drone in the rain.
