DJI rates the Mavic 3 Pro to fly in air temperatures from -10° to 40° C (14° to 104° F). Its batteries charge only between 5° and 40° C (41° to 104° F). Below -10° C the battery can't be used at all, and between -10° and 5° C its capacity drops sharply, so plan shorter flights in winter and keep spare batteries warm.

The numbers
| Condition | DJI figure |
|---|---|
| Operating temperature | -10° to 40° C (14° to 104° F) |
| Charging temperature | 5° to 40° C (41° to 104° F) |
| Battery unusable | Below -10° C (14° F) |
| Significantly reduced capacity | -10° to 5° C (14° to 41° F) |
| Recommended battery temperature | Above 20° C (68° F) |
DJI's manual also notes the drone isn't built to military-grade temperature ranges, so treat these limits as hard limits.
Flying in cold weather
From DJI's low-temperature notice, plus habits that help:
- Start with full, warm batteries. Keep them in an inside pocket or a warm car until you fly.
- Hover after takeoff for a short time to let the battery warm up before flying away.
- Land when DJI Fly shows the low battery warning. Don't push it in the cold. Voltage can drop suddenly.
- Expect less wind resistance. DJI says reduced capacity in the cold also reduces how well the drone handles wind.
- Take extra care at high altitude, where cold and thin air combine.
- Watch for ice and condensation. Moving from a cold field into a warm car can fog the lenses. Let the drone warm up in its bag before opening it.
Expect noticeably shorter flights than the 43-minute rating when it's near freezing. See flying a drone in cold weather for more.
Flying in hot weather
Above 40° C (104° F) you're outside DJI's rating. Below that, heat still matters:
- Don't charge a hot battery. Let it cool after a flight. The battery won't charge above 40° C.
- Keep the drone and batteries out of a hot car and direct sun between flights.
- Don't block the air vents. DJI's manual says they're for cooling.
- Shade the controller screen and give your phone a break if it overheats.
- Fly shorter sessions and give batteries time to cool between flights.
Storing batteries
Store batteries at a moderate room temperature and partly charged for long breaks. Fully charge each battery at least every three months to keep it healthy. Our drone battery care guide covers storage and travel. A swollen battery should never be flown or charged; see swollen drone battery.
