How much does the DJI Mini 4 Pro weigh? (and why it matters)

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Mini 4 Pro weighs under 249 g (about 0.55 lb) ready to fly, according to DJI. That figure includes the standard Intelligent Flight Battery, the propellers and a microSD card. Keeping it under 250 g is the whole point of the design: in the US, recreational pilots don't have to register a drone that light with the FAA.

DJI Mini 4 Pro weight by setup
DJI lists the Mini 4 Pro at under 249 g with the standard battery. The Battery Plus figure is our estimate from DJI's battery weights (about 77.9 g vs 121 g).

Mini 4 Pro weight in grams, ounces and pounds

Setup Weight
Standard battery (DJI spec) Under 249 g, about 8.8 oz or 0.55 lb
Standard battery alone About 77.9 g
Intelligent Flight Battery Plus alone About 121 g
Drone with Battery Plus (our estimate) About 290 g, about 10.2 oz

DJI notes that actual weight can vary slightly between units because of batch materials. The "249 g" you see in ads is shorthand for that sub-249 g spec.

What pushes it over 250 g

  • The Intelligent Flight Battery Plus. It gives 45 minutes of rated flight instead of 34, but DJI says the drone then weighs more than 249 g. See Mini 4 Pro Battery Plus.
  • A Mini 3 Pro standard battery. DJI's FAQ says it fits, but flight time drops and the total weight exceeds 249 g.
  • The 360° Propeller Guard. The DJI Mini 4 Pro 360° Propeller Guard takes the drone over 250 g, and DJI says obstacle avoidance isn't available with it fitted.
  • Add-ons. Third-party strobes, mounts or skins all add grams. DJI warns against adding payloads to the aircraft.

Why the weight matters in the US

Under 250 g and flying for fun, you don't need to register with the FAA. You still must pass the free TRUST test, carry proof, stay at or below 400 ft and get authorization before flying in controlled airspace.

Once the drone weighs 250 g or more, you must register it at FAADroneZone ($5, valid 3 years), mark the number on the outside, and fly with Remote ID. The Mini 4 Pro's built-in Remote ID only switches on with the Battery Plus, as DJI's manual explains. Details in FAA registration and Mini 4 Pro Remote ID.

Flying for business is different: under Part 107, every drone must be registered whatever it weighs.

Abroad, the sub-250 g class can also mean lighter rules. The Mini 4 Pro carries a C0 class label in the EU. Check before you travel.

How much weight can the Mini 4 Pro carry?

Effectively none. DJI doesn't publish a payload rating, and its manual says not to add any payload other than official accessories. With the Battery Plus, DJI also says not to mount a propeller guard or third-party accessories because propulsion is reduced. Hanging things from a 249 g drone hurts stability, wind handling and flight time, and can void warranty coverage. If you need to carry a payload, the Mini 4 Pro is the wrong tool.

Light, but not fragile in wind

A sub-250 g drone feels wind more than a heavier one. DJI rates the Mini 4 Pro for winds up to 10.7 m/s (about 24 mph). Read how windy is too windy before flying on breezy days.
