How much does the DJI Mini 5 Pro weigh? (and why it matters)

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

DJI lists the Mini 5 Pro's takeoff weight as 249.9 g (about 0.55 lb or 8.8 oz) with the standard battery. DJI adds that actual weight varies by batch, at about 249.9 g ± 4 g. That's just under the 250 g line that matters in the US: recreational pilots don't have to register a drone below it with the FAA. Fit the Battery Plus, propeller guards or any add-on, and it's over.

DJI Mini 5 Pro weight by setup
DJI's figures, except the Battery Plus weight, which is our estimate from DJI's battery weights (71.2 g vs 117 g). C1 is the EU class limit for the Plus version.

Mini 5 Pro weight in grams, ounces and pounds

Setup Weight
Ready to fly, standard battery (DJI) 249.9 g, about 8.8 oz or 0.55 lb
Standard battery alone About 71.2 g
Battery Plus alone About 117 g
Drone with Battery Plus (our estimate) About 296 g, about 10.4 oz
Each propeller About 2.8 g
Each ND filter About 1.12 g

For Europe, DJI sells two versions: the Fly More Combo drone is C0-certified with a maximum takeoff mass of 249.9 g, and the Fly More Combo Plus drone is C1-certified with a maximum of 355 g.

What pushes it over 250 g

  • The Intelligent Flight Battery Plus. 52 minutes rated instead of 36, but DJI says the drone then weighs more than 249 g. See Mini 5 Pro Battery Plus.
  • The Quick-Release 360° Propeller Guard. 16 g per guard, replacing the 2.8 g props. See Mini 5 Pro propeller guards.
  • Strobes, mounts, skins or stickers. At 249.9 g there's no margin. DJI warns against adding payloads.

DJI's approved accessories for the sub-250 g C0 version are the propellers, standard battery, ND filters and a microSD card.

The ±4 g tolerance

Because DJI states the weight can vary by about 4 g either way, an individual drone could land slightly over 250 g. If you rely on the exemption, weigh yours ready to fly on an accurate kitchen scale. Or register it anyway: it's $5 for 3 years, and the drone already has Remote ID built in.

Why the weight matters in the US

Under 250 g and flying for fun, you skip FAA registration. You still need the free TRUST test, and the usual rules apply: 400 ft max, visual line of sight, no flying over people or moving vehicles, and authorization in controlled airspace.

At 250 g or more, register at FAADroneZone ($5, valid 3 years), mark the number on the drone, and broadcast Remote ID. See FAA registration and Mini 5 Pro Remote ID.

Under Part 107, every drone must be registered whatever it weighs.

How much weight can the Mini 5 Pro carry?

Effectively none. DJI doesn't publish a payload rating, and its manual says not to add any payload other than its listed accessories. Extra weight hurts wind handling, flight time and stability, and takes it out of the sub-250 g class.

Light, but rated for wind

DJI rates the Mini 5 Pro for winds up to 12 m/s (about 27 mph), more than the Mini 4 Pro's 10.7 m/s. See how windy is too windy.

Rules current as of October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice.
