The DJI Mavic 3 Classic weighs 895 g (about 1.97 lb or 31.6 oz) at takeoff, including the battery. DJI's EU declaration counts the microSD card in that figure too. The battery alone is 335.5 g, more than a third of the total. At 895 g it's well over the FAA's 250 g line, so it must be registered ($5, valid 3 years) and broadcast Remote ID, which is built in.

| Diagonal | 380.1 mm |
| EU class | C1 |
Why 895 g matters in the US
- Registration is required for every flight, recreational or commercial: $5 for 3 years at FAADroneZone. See FAA registration.
- Remote ID is required. The Classic has Standard Remote ID built in. See Mavic 3 Classic Remote ID.
- Recreational pilots also need the TRUST certificate. Part 107 applies for business use. See Mavic 3 Classic license.
Why it matters in Europe
The Classic is a C1 drone, with a maximum takeoff mass of 895 g. DJI says to keep that status you must not add payloads such as propeller guards, use non-qualified replacement parts like third-party batteries or props, or modify the drone. Check the local aviation authority's rules before you fly abroad.
Weight and flying
Weight helps in wind. The Classic is rated for 12 m/s (about 27 mph), stronger than the 10.7 m/s rating of sub-250 g drones. It also helps the big 4/3 camera's gimbal stay steady. The trade-offs are a larger bag and registration. See Mavic 3 Classic wind resistance.
How the Classic compares
| Drone | Takeoff weight | Registration for hobby use? |
|---|---|---|
| DJI Mini 4 Pro | 249 g (standard battery) | No |
| DJI Air 3S | 724 g | Yes |
| DJI Mavic 3 Classic | 895 g | Yes |
| DJI Mavic 3 Pro | 958 g | Yes |
| DJI Mavic 4 Pro | 1,063 g | Yes |
The Mavic 3 Pro weighs 63 g more because it carries two extra cameras, which is why its rated flight time is 43 minutes against the Classic's 46. See Mavic 3 Classic vs Mavic 3 Pro.
Traveling with the Classic
The battery is 77 Wh, under the 100 Wh airline limit, so no airline approval is needed. Spares go in carry-on only, with terminals protected. Folded, the Classic fits in a small shoulder bag or backpack. See traveling with a drone.
Does weight change with accessories?
Yes. ND filters add a few grams; a propeller guard adds more and shortens flights. The weight to plan around is still 895 g, which is what matters for registration.
