Why won't my DJI Mini 5 Pro connect to the controller or phone?

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

A DJI Mini 5 Pro that won't connect to its controller usually just needs to be re-paired from DJI Fly: open settings, go to Control, choose the option to pair with the aircraft, and follow the prompt on the drone. "No network connection" and "account not logged in" are different problems: the controller needs internet and you need to sign in to DJI Fly. "Not connecting to satellites" is about GPS, not your controller.

Mini 5 Pro connection fixes
Three different connections, three different fixes. Most Mini 5 Pro connection problems are settings, not hardware.

Re-pair the drone and controller

The Mini 5 Pro flies with DJI Fly. Our kit includes the DJI RC-N3, which uses your phone as the screen, and the DJI RC Pro 2 is available as an upgrade. A controller bought with the drone comes linked. To link one yourself:

  1. Charge and power on the drone and controller, and keep them close together. DJI's recent manuals say within 0.5 m.
  2. Open DJI Fly. With the RC-N3, connect your phone first.
  3. In camera view, open settings and go to Control, then the pairing option ("Re-pair to Aircraft" or "Connect to Aircraft," depending on the app version).
  4. Follow the prompt on the drone. On DJI's recent Mini and Mavic drones, that means pressing and holding the drone's power button for more than four seconds until it beeps and its battery LEDs blink in sequence.

Linking a new controller unlinks the old one. More help is in DJI drone not connecting to controller.

"No signal" in flight

A weak or lost video signal is usually obstruction or interference. Point the controller's antennas or top edge toward the drone, keep a clear line of sight, and avoid flying behind buildings or trees. DJI recommends turning off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the controller during flight. See drone keeps losing signal.

"No network connection" or "account not logged in"

  • RC-N3: your phone supplies the internet. Turn on mobile data or Wi-Fi.
  • RC Pro 2: connect it to Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot from its quick settings.

Then sign in to DJI Fly. DJI's manuals for its current drones say flight is restricted to 30 m (98.4 ft) height and 50 m (164 ft) range when the drone isn't connected to or logged into the app. Internet is also needed for activation, firmware updates and GEO zone unlocks. See DJI account not logged in.

Not connecting to Wi-Fi on your phone

The drone talks to your phone directly for downloads through QuickTransfer. Turn on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and location on the phone, open DJI Fly and accept the prompt. You don't type a password into the phone's Wi-Fi settings. See Mini 5 Pro QuickTransfer not working.

Not connecting to satellites

The drone needs a strong GNSS signal to hold position, record a Home Point and return home.

  • Power on in open sky, away from buildings, trees and bridges.
  • Give it time after power-on, especially in a new location.
  • Move away from metal, cars and power lines, which also upset the compass.
  • If DJI Fly asks for compass calibration, do it outdoors away from metal.

Without GNSS, the drone relies on its vision sensors to hold position, which only works with good light and textured ground. Don't take off with a weak signal. See DJI compass error.

Still not connecting

Update all firmware in DJI Fly or with DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series). If the drone never responds to pairing, contact DJI or start a repair. More on the drone is in the Mini 5 Pro guide.
