The DJI Neo uses the DJI Fly app. Install it on your phone (App Store on iPhone, DJI's website on Android), power on the Neo, and tap Connection Guide on the DJI Fly home screen to connect over Wi-Fi and activate it. After that you can fly with the on-screen joysticks, start Smart Snaps from the app, or fly with the optional RC-N3 controller, which also runs DJI Fly on your phone.

Download DJI Fly
| Device | Where |
|---|---|
| iPhone / iPad | App Store, search "DJI Fly" |
| Android | DJI Fly download page |
DJI's download page lists the phone OS versions DJI Fly supports. For help with the Android APK, see install DJI Fly on Android.
Connect the Neo to your phone
- Power on the Neo: press the power button, then press and hold. Wait for the self-check to finish.
- On your phone, turn on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and location.
- In DJI Fly, tap Connection Guide (bottom right), choose DJI Neo, then Connect via Mobile Device.
- Pick your Neo from the list.
- The first time, press and hold the Neo's power button to confirm.
You don't type a Wi-Fi password; DJI Fly handles it. To switch to a different phone, turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the old one first.
Activate it
Activation happens in the same Connection Guide flow and needs internet. Install any firmware update the app offers: Neo firmware update.
What you can do in the app
- Smart Snaps: Follow Me, Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, and Custom (DirectionTrack Me, Helix or Boomerang). Set distance and height for each.
- Manual Control: virtual joysticks. Tap and hold takeoff and the Neo rises to about 0.6 m.
- Camera: switch photo and video, set resolution, and drag the slider to tilt the camera.
- Audio: record sound through your phone's mic, a DJI Mic 2 or DJI Mic, or Bluetooth earbuds while the Neo records video.
- Voice control: say "Hey Fly" with voice wake-up on. English or Mandarin only.
- Album: view, download and auto-edit clips.
Limits when flying by phone
- 30 m (98 ft) high and 50 m (164 ft) away, max.
- No Return to Home. Keep it close and in sight.
- No obstacle sensing, on any control method.
- Turn off other connected devices, such as the RC-N3, first.
- Reconnect every 90 days. DJI says palm and app takeoff are disabled if the Neo hasn't connected to the app, with internet, for more than 90 days.
Flying with the RC-N3
With the RC-N3 your phone sits in the controller and DJI Fly shows the live view. You get physical sticks, flight modes, RTH and longer range. Combos ship linked. To link one yourself, use Control > Re-pair to Aircraft in DJI Fly, then hold the Neo's power button for more than 4 seconds. Full steps: how to pair a DJI controller.
Can it fly with no phone at all?
Yes. Press the mode button to pick a Smart Snap and hold it to take off from your palm. It has to have connected to DJI Fly at least once. More in how to fly a drone with your phone.
New owner? Start with the Neo quick start. Want sticks and RTH? Add the DJI RC-N3, or shop the DJI Neo.
